my friend just picked up a 96 gst for 500 dollars the owner thought the car had a blown engine because there was oil all over the valve cover the real problem broken dip stick but beside that point the car runs great but am pulling out the engine to change front rear main seals and oil gasket water pump oil pump (toga) timing belt and the clutch will removing the b/s provoke crank walk

Nice find sounds like $500 well spent.
As far removing the balance shaft good move how ever I doubt that will lessen your chance of getting CW, how ever it sure beats blowing a hole out your block or ruining your head and pistons. As far as I know you either get it or wont, but I doubt playing around with the bottom end will help prevent it. Be sure to measure your end play first chance you get, hopefully it doesn't show results out of spec. Best of luck and once again nice find.
