B&M Problems

Just installed my B&M Short Shifter on my 95 n/t and i ran into a problem. I bought it used and they didnt bother to include the E-Clip for it. :thumbdown so i get it all on there, and relized theres no way to hold that cable link bushing onto the shift pin... wow.. so i basily riged it with a zip tie for now. put it though the 35% hole, and around the rod holding it in place for now until i can figure out how to get an E-Clip. if anyone has anyideas let me know. i am going to check around all the local shops and autoparts stores. i am hoping i can dig something up at Napa (where i work, but i cant think of ever seeing one).

Do you think B&M might have one or a few they could sell me? or has anyone tryed to go this route? Thanks again..

R/C hobby stores should carry e-clips... they are often used in the suspension systems of r/c cars and trucks.

If your current setup will last a week or two just call B&M, they'll prolly give you one for free.

Thanks for the idea.. theres a RC hobby shop not to far from me.. i'll go check them out tomorrow.. i reallly dont see a problem with out it is setup with zip ties.. its holding pretty good after about 1/2 or lots of shifting (to test the beauty of it) but why not do things right.. i am going to give B&M a call and see what they say tomorrow..

Any hardware store or parts shop. Routine parts. They're called Jesus clips for a reason: "JESUS! Where the hell did that thing pop off to?"

You're better-off replacing that zip-tie with some wire until you get the clip.

hahaa.. thats for sure.. thanks for the help.. and i have my center all open with extra zipties on hand if something were to happen.. gotta be prepared... Thanks again you guys... hopefuly i am lucky at finding one..

Advance and AutoZone has them in the miscellaneous nuts and bolts and clips section. Just gotta look hard for them.

If you can't find an eclip anywhere around you, you can always take a drill and put a small hole into the shaft and put in a cotter pin like the one that was there stock, yea they are a pain in the ass but they work none the less. just and idea

Thanks guys for all your help.. i went up to my work place where i found out we had a kit of lots of different clips. AWESOME... got the clip i needed and i am shifting away.. Any admin who reads this, you can close it.. i got what i needed and am done talking about it..

Good luck getting a drill through that hardened shaft...

Diamond tipped bits and a drill press should do the job, personally I havent tried it but I'm sure it would work, I mean they threaded the piece so It cant be THAT hard of a shaft. Easy job for a machine shop anyway I live next to one but not everyone does so could be a problem

Unless they rolled the threads, and then hardened it. !
