Hey I found a b and m tranny cooler for 19000 gvw measuring 11" x 7 1/2" x 3/4" from summit for $45. does this sound like a good size? anyone have experience with b and m coolers? Its the better stacked plate design, and comes with tubing clamps and so on.

are these for automatic trannys only? sorry for the noob question :p

Usually fluid coolers are univeral, i.e. oil, trans, ps... I think it's more size that would matter.
I mean there is a proper operating temperature for these fluids...so the biggest isn't always the best, but that size cooler seems appropriate..

Anyone have a write up on how to install a tranny cooler?

all youll need to do is unbolt it, unclamp 2 hoses and re clamp them somehow.....image doing a intercooler install but much smaller. its only 2 hoses and the mounting bolts, your coller should be on the opposite vent as the smic should be.

Are you guys sure this is the right one...I know its 19,00gvw like ipt recomends, but I thought it to be a little too thin at 3/4inches thick.

I only wanna run 1 cooler....
Whats the difference (other than more efficient cooling)?

I forget who but there is a guy here running a monster setup (awdbrnout or some thing) and he's using 4 B&M tranny coolers

I belive it is possible to have too much cooling and hurt things if the temperature of fluids don't get to their proper operating range.
I have mine mounted up front and center using whatever brackets were in front of the AC condensor..I completely removed all the hard lines and ran (can't remember the diameter hose) lines right to the cooler and zip tied it to the front cross member for support.

Isn't there fluid you have to mess with? What do you do about that?

I finally did my cooler install a couple weekends ago when I did my FMIC. When I removed the stock cooler, a little bit of fluid drained out, but not much. The hoses that run to the tranny cooler come out of the top of the transmission, so there's not a lot of fluid running everywhere.
