hey everyone,i've just picked up a 1991 talon awd/tsi auto trans.the problem is it will barely move, revs high, but little movement.it feels like a manual the clutch has gone out in.just curious if the tcu would affect this.fluid lvl is good, dont know about the filter yet, just looking for input/suggestions.thanks

change ATF then see if it still does it, but it sounds like your end clutches have gone out though.

yah, Clutches might be bad. Does it Go in R?????? Also it might not be Locking up, and Torque converted might be fugged.,

I doubt the end clutches are the culprit, they don't even start to turn until 3rd gear, and even then they are still not activated. 1Gs didn't have a lock-up converter. I'd say change the ATF (although sometimes old ATF is what holds the trans together if there is damage). A clogged filter could very well cause this, or a bad torque converter. Post this question on the www.importperformancetrans.com message board. I'm sure John will help you figure it out.

well i changed the atf, waiting for filter.not in stock.seems to engage better.found that the rear calipers are locked up.causing majior resistance.so gotta replace those.once i get the filter and change the calipers, she should roll..thanks for all the input.:talon:

well i was wrong, the calipers are bad,but not the problem, still doing the same thing, could this be what i've heard called (limp mode)where the tcu only allows 3rd gear.i've read the post on that, sounds very sim. to my prob.how can i tell?
