Hi im not sure if im posting this topic in the right spot but here goes.

im not really new to the dsm world but im not a pro, I recently bought another dsm after my last one got stolen :cry: any way i noticed the car needed motor mounts when i was test driving it , basically there wasn't any mounts on the car i could almost rotate the engine 45* each direction. I usually go with the poly inserts but i decided to go balls out and get some Avid racing motor mounts 62a for the street/strip from extreme psi!!! they arrived quickly thanks to extremepsi's great shipment when I got them they looked flawless

I was so eager to install them since basically there wasn't any on the car, But I ran into some issues while installing! the driver side mount was 3/4'' to wide and would not fit into the slot !! after trying to force it in there i knew tha wasnt going to work unless i grinded down the extra meat

I used the stock bolts and my engine does not move at all during startup and free revving. You could drill and insert bigger bolts if you want piece of mind but i feel its not needed at all.

Same here. Stock bolts (except for the rear mount) worked just fine. I gotta say it feels really weird not seeing any movement from the engine LOL
 
Let's just say this you're not going to see the difference until you dyno the car and the engine move. Or better yet leave the hood up and pull off from a start you will then see the mod is necessary. But with that being said if you happy with stock bolts then that's all that matters. I wasn't until I inserted the bolts to match the diameter of the avid mounts;)

I honestly have no clue what your talking about, i love to see pictures of this process if you have them. However in all honesty I can say I had to do nothing of what you said and my motor doesnt move. Maybe you just had a bad batch?
 
What's the size difference in the hole and bolt for all y'all that don't have a problem? With mine, there was more of a difference than I wanted. I wanted it to be tight as possible.

I second this. These mounts are so tight that I had to use the jack on the engine/trans with the car on its wheels to force movement to align these mounts due to how tight they fit.

not saying mine are the same as others, which I in fact have seen different versions of it - but the different Bolt MOD is definitively a good one if the inner diameter of the mount has too much play for the owner's satisfaction.
 
So I posted some pictures of the front mount and the hole is not as big as some are stating in fact it all looks the same. Im going to see if I have any pictures of the back to compare.

I am going to remove mine probably tomorrow and measure the difference between the bolt and the hole in the mount. I will post some pics of what I find.

Mine are currently off the car, I did notice the inner diameter is is the same as stock but the bolt is somewhat smaller in shank diameter thickness.
Having the Stock bolts Never affected a thing, I have drove my car without a hood and saw my engine solid as a rock while launching hard. If you grab the side mount (left and right) bolts they are a thicker size in diameter and they will fit these Avid (front and back) holes snug. this could be an improvement but like I stated I have no complaints with using the OEM bolts.
So my conclusion based off my experience will be that because my mounts are off, I will use the thicker bolts to leave no margin of wobble from the mounts.
(thanks for the tip, I see why it was presented)
BUT if you have already installed them and/or prefer the OEM "thinner" bolts then there is no malfunction or degraded effect by leaving them on. :thumb:

P.s. (front and back) + (left and right) are to be understood by vehicle's orientation and NOT by the engine's orientation in my comment, this is to prevent any confusion with any technical individual out there.
