Hi im not sure if im posting this topic in the right spot but here goes.

im not really new to the dsm world but im not a pro, I recently bought another dsm after my last one got stolen  any way i noticed the car needed motor mounts when i was test driving it , basically there wasn't any mounts on the car i could almost rotate the engine 45* each direction. I usually go with the poly inserts but i decided to go balls out and get some Avid racing motor mounts 62a for the street/strip from extreme psi!!! they arrived quickly thanks to extremepsi's great shipment when I got them they looked flawless

I was so eager to install them since basically there wasn't any on the car, But I ran into some issues while installing! the driver side mount was 3/4'' to wide and would not fit into the slot !! after trying to force it in there i knew tha wasnt going to work unless i grinded down the extra meat

From what I'm reading it looks like the 1g mounts work fine but the 2g mounts need some revisions.

nah, sounds like potential buyers just need to read up a bit before purchasing a part.

Im sure anyone reading this thread will buy the longer bolts necessary to make it work ahead of time. Possible area for which Avid to sell said bolts with the kit and make a bit of profit while making it to where the buyer doesnt have to source said bolts/studs themselves. Just a thought......

i just came across this thread but unless they changed their kit i had not problems installing my 4 peice 90A.

its not as easy as removing a thumbdrive and putting another one in but i had no complaints and i had all hardware in the kit, even spare bolts JIK. i paid 310.00 about 3 months ago.

people just gotta know what their doing in order to fit it correctly, there are a bunch of inexperienced people in these forum who claim to be a jack of all trades when in reality you might be having a technical discussion with a 14 yo.

Maybe you will get lucky at using longer bolts if it wasn't fixed.

Well using longer bolts is not my concern I can get them with no problem its the having to shave the transmission mount for the studs and shave the driver side mount to fit into the housing and the drill out the bracket and using a bigger bolt for the front mount. I am very shocked that a company as reputable as avid to have not resolved these issues before putting this product into production and worst yet onto the retail market.OMG

Was it ever fixed? how easy was it for you to install? i'm looking to buy some for my 2g as well but kinda second guessing them now after reading this thread. I dont want to be dropping 300 on motor mounts that I have to grind down. If I have to use longer bolts than so be it.

FYI Avid already fixed this issue a few months ago. I've been running the 4 piece 75A mount kit for a few months on my Auto Gs-t and the installation was as simple as putting the stock mounts back on.

To make things easier to install the transmission mount I would recommend shaving down the studs on the transmission so that you don't drop it as much and give more clearance for the mount to fit in. No modifications are needed to be done to any of the motor mounts.

Thanks man! That helps me out even more because i have an auto as well. Since they fixed the issue a few months ago, i think ill go ahead an order them now! :thumb:

Dag did you use the same mounts I purchased. Installation was a pain in the @#$%! The transmission mount was the most disobedient mount of them all! A few things to note is that the front and rear mounts will need a larger diameter bolt for the bushing is way larger in diameter than the stock bolt. I went to fastenal and picked up a couple that fit perfect. Another thing to note is that you have to drill out the brackets to the front and rear mount to use the larger diameter bolt. This will ensure that your engine is rock solid. Now if you want to listen to the misinformation about not having to do ANY modification to get the mounts to work then go right ahead and be ready to use every curse word in your vocabulary:rolleyes: Installing these mounts are not as straight forward as stock mounts trust me:cool:

How long ago did you buy the kit Keltalon????? I even made a thread about the mounts with pics of them installed. I in no way needed any extra bolts of any sort to make the mounts work so you either got a previous version or IDK what happened with yours.

Im telling you my installation was simple as just taking out the old mounts and putting the new ones back(with the exception of having to grind down the studs just enough on the transmission for better clearing. Why would I be lying on that??

BTW I bought these from punishment racing at around january this year.

I just bought and installed mine about 3 weeks ago. They did come with the longer bolts for the rear mount which was not an issue. just that the factory bolt that goes through the mount side to side was not big enough in diameter. This was the case with the front and the rear.

I just did this install yesterday and the only issue i ran into was having to actually lower the transmission down some to get the trans mount (on the passenger side) to actually go over the bracket that is mounted on the trans. was a little more difficult than I did expect but by no means was it hard. Well worth the money and the time. Especially since all my mounts were destroyed.

Keltalon- What size bolt and drill did you use for the front? I'm also having the same issue with the Avid bolt hole is too big for a stock bolt.

1/2 drill bit and 1/2 bolt. The stock bolt is too small and will cause the engine mount not to do its job and that is hold the engine steady.

Wow I got these mounts for my car and didn't run into one issue with the install. The back mount is a bit tough to get at but other then that it was all easy.

The purpose of the mount is to keep the engine as stable as possible. If you take the stock bolt and put it through the avid engine mount you will see that the bolt is not the right diameter (smaller) this will cause the engine to flex. the avid mount comes with a 1/2 hole where as the stock bolt is smaller than the hole of the avid mount. I used a 1/2 bolt to match the hole of the avid mount and drilled out the engine mount bracket in the front and rear to match the the new 1/2 inch bolts I picked up from fastenal engine is stable as it gets:D.

Is the 1/2 inch bolt needed for only one of the mounts, which one? I will have to check mine now. Its been a while since I put them in so can't remember if I did anything different with bolts but I do know I didn't drill anything.

You will need it for the front and the rear mount. check it out its a simple mod for a stable engine.

On the up side, if your willing to modify the base plate on them i hear the avid mounts work extremely well from those that have used them. Worth the trouble though? i cant say.. havent personally used these.

I used the stock bolts and my engine does not move at all during startup and free revving. You could drill and insert bigger bolts if you want piece of mind but i feel its not needed at all.
