Third time is a charm.
After being runner up the past two events, I finally met my goal and captured the fastest time of the day (FTD). But it wasn’t without it’s drama...
If you’ll recall from my previous event, I had a slight issue with a popped dip stick, engine fire, plastic dropped into the oil pan, and a separating crank pulley.
Well, by the morning of this event, I hadn’t yet got the car back together. In fact, the car had no exhaust, transfer case, driver’s axle, driver’s suspension, nor oil pan. So I worked all day and finally got it all back together with about an hour to spare before I had head out to the event. *phew*
After my first run I was trailing FTD by about 0.1 seconds. On my second run, I had brain fade and starting doing a second lap of the course, realized my mistake the cut into the finish. My time was wicked fast, but it was counted as off course (O/C) even though I inadvertently made the course longer for myself.
On my third run, I pulled it all together, dropped 0.5 seconds from my time and captured FTD. This time held for the rest of the event. Woo hoo!
