I heard from a couple people that if you don't want crankwalk then just get an automatic. He also included that the fastest Supra TT's are autos, I am aware of the pros and cons, the auto TT supra is a better drag car because the auto holds boost better and is less prone to spin off the line however does that apply to the Turbo 2g GS-T as well? and if the crankwalk possabilities are pretty much gone with an auto, is it worth the sacrafice?

2G autos are nice because it would seem that they are less likely to crankwalk BUT there is no difinitive proof to back this up. There are A/Ts that walk but it seems to be more rare than the M/T. Some people say the reason for this is because there is no load on the crank like there is with a clutch.

As far as advantages though that would probably be the only one. I had an A/T FWD 2G and pulled 13.8@101mph on 15psi with a 20G. I'm sure the car could have done better but I bought my AWD and moved on. You might be able to build boost off the line but unless your pulling monster 60fts your going to do bad. I pulled 2.0 60fts on street tires with mine and that is considered decent when it comes to A/T FWDs Kiggly had a FWD A/T 1G that was running 10s. The thing you need to do if you race an A/T DSM is upgrade the tranny parts or go with a fully build A/T. Which honestly does not cost that much more than a fully built M/T. (about 2500-3000).

Crankwalk is not that common as alot of people will have you believe. If you are that worried abotu it then just buy a 1G and be done with it. It will harder to get an auto to as fast as a manual. Most cars that make a good amount of torque will benifit from an auto. Our cars need to pull high RPM to make good power before we can really get moving. Something like a V8 or big displacment 6 will have no problem makign power down low. You can get a higher stall converter but they will make alto fo heat and dependign on how high you go it may make the car less fun to drive on the street. IMO I would never buy an auto in a small displacment motor.

He's right, if you can avoid it don't get an auto if you want to be quick. It's not that it can't be done... it just takes a lot and I do mean a lot of hard work and money. Beefing up the A/T can be done for cheaper than the build up of a M/T tranny. OR if you go the route I did it can end up costing you more. The Level10 tranny ends up running about 2500-3000 bucks but will hold a lot of hp. I had the higher stall in the car which made launching a breeze. On street tires I could pull 2.0 60fts all day long in my FWD A/T. I realize this is nothing big compared to an AWD but as far as FWDs go getting below 1.9 without traction adders is a bi***. I raced my FWD A/T for a little over a year or so and it was fun as hell to race. Best I did before I went to AWD M/T was 13.8@101mph@15psi on pump gas. Warren Daniel pulled 12.7 in his on pump with street tires.

So you can see it's not impossible, just more difficult. If you mod your A/T there are three things that are a must.

1. End clutch upgrade. Either Red Eagle or Alto
2. Shift Kit
3. Higher Stall converter.

Also note this.... If you have a 2G FWD A/T they DO NOT make a LSD for it. I shopped high and low and neither Quaiffe or Kaaz would do it. If you go 1G they do make it because Kiggly had one in his before he did the M/T conversion. BTW Kiggly did 10s in his A/T FWD 1G and Russ Coxe did 10s in his AWD 2G A/T.
