Every so often when I start driving, my car will accelerate very slowly, and the RPMS will stall and go down slowly. My car also will not shift gears when this happens. It only happens on occasion, and to fix it I simply put the car in park, turn it on and off. Any thoughts? Ill try to upload a video it will make it easier to explain

Is there a CEL/any stored error codes?

This sounds very noobish, but im not sure how to check those on 95 dsm

Look at your gauge cluster... is the check engine light illuminated or not?

nope. and sorry its 3 am so my mind is fried

what color is the fluid on the dip stick? Does it smell burnt? Should be red with an odd smell, but you will for sure know if it is burnt. It will be black and smell... well, burnt. Either way, I would start with a fluid drain and fill, and filter change. If you are lucky that will fix the problem. Otherwise, you may be looking at a tranny rebuild.

I just changed the filter and fluid about 4 days ago, and added a third bottle f Lucas, It had the original Chrystler filter in there >.>, hoping it would fix the problem

Also when I put my foot hard on the gas, it ends up shifting right before the red line as u see in the video, is that normal?

TCU..Tranny computer..In your 420a it's next to the ecu..

How can tell for sure it's bad? They are kinda pricey

420a's should be a dime a dozen..Also sebrings, and avengers came with the 420a..Something to widen the search if it is bad..Have it tested by a local tranny shop possibly..If it's starting our in third gear it's bad..And check the fuse to make sure that it's not a fuse..

It does it randomly though. Some days it's fine, the next it's doing it.

So either the computer is going or you have a wiring problem..Which replacing the computer would be easier than wiring, but the wiring will be chaper, And a PITA..

Hubby had a '95 n/t that used to do the same thing. Come to find out, the big plug that gets bolted to the front of the transmission (you can clearly see it when you pop the hood) was loose. He was also a little low on fluid. Tightened it back up, added fluid, she was just fine.

The solenoid doesn't have much to do with the fluid levels. It's an electrical thing. They go bad. Could just be a goofy sensor.

I quoted the wrong thing.

I added some coolant was kinda low helped, I had also taken off the heat shield on my exhaust manifold( bad I know). I just got new header and exhaust system. No problems at all lately, so I think it was just over heating? Is that possible?

seriously i am getting the same exact problem. do you guys have a picture of the bolt on the transmission. I was driving for a bout 110 miles and noticed my rpms were at 6.5 and i was going only 60 mph.... i want to fix that problem. but then i turn off my car, let it cool for about an hour, and then it shifts well for about 5 minutes. I have no idea what it is... please help guys

So nobody is going to mention the speed sensor? :hmm:

If the computer was bad, it wouldn't even engage and let you drive the car. Same thing with the ECU. It wouldn't even turn on.

The ECU can't read the signal the speed sensor is putting out so it locks it out and causes the car to drive really crappy (stalling RPM's, very slow acceleration, no shifting, crappy gas economy, etc...):aha:

You can temporarily fix it by turning the car off, then on again, then finally letting it idle a little bit to aquire a usable signal. I recommend chaging the sensor ASAP though, its only about $60 beans.
