2G automatic transmission dripping fluid from inspection cover

I have a leak from my transmission that is causing me some problems. I have figured out at this point that the point where it is exiting the transmission altogether is from the small weep hole between the inspection cover and the transmission. I took the cover off and looked up there as well as I could and I snapped some pictures but they don't show anything at all and I don't have an easy way to post them since I'm not at home. The fluid lays along the bottom of the bell housing and as far as I can tell the torque converter is dry and so is the flex plate. Is there a common place for the transmission to leak back there and is there a way to fix it without dropping the transmission? The leak is bad enough to drip a drop every couple of seconds at idle and I can only assume that it is worse under power.

most likely if you have a leak coming from there its going to be your torque converter. how is your car driving??

It was driving perfectly fine until it ran out of fluid. Once I added more fluid it was fine again.

hopefully its not a cracked TQ cus if it its its going to have to be removed and replaced. are you sure its not coming from somewhere else?? maybe from the side or the top and leaking down??

I'm quite sure. It is definitely coming from the weep hole, I wiped everything down and ran it while on jack stands. I then looked up into there with the inspection cover off and I can see the fluid sitting along the bottom of the transmission in a thin stream. If it is a torque converter then that is going to be a PITA but at least less expensive than a completely new transmission.

YUP it will be. if it its might as well rebuild the whole transmission while its down . thats what I did when my TQ busted . check for metal shavings on the transmission oil (oil will look like if its sparkling with aluminum dust) as that is a sure sign that its going to need a rebuild.
