okay . when i start my car up in the morn to go to work i pull out of the driveway, put it in drive adn head down the road. it starts out in first then go to shift into second and its like theres not even a gear there at all ....then after about 10 secs it shifts into second and the same way through to od.........once it warms up it is fine ..............also i have to usually come to a complete stop for it to go into first or when i slow down to pull into someones driveway it usually tries to stay in 3rd or second when it should have downshifted......hey if any one can help i woudl surly appreciate it cause this is starting to bother the hell out of me. i was thinking maybe the valvetrain was a lil bit clogged cause the kid who owned it b4 me didnt seem to take good care of it.....thanks for the help

generally there is a torque lost when the engine is cold. it's natural. as for the shifting, when the car is doing right around 25mph, as far as i know, it just has trouble deciding which gear to go into. it's just the way it is with our AT eclipse. it's stupid i know. :thumbdown

hey thanks for the info..i just had to ask ...ive owned a few autos and none ever acted like this.... guess there one of their own....thanks again

yeah, unfortunately for our car, the A/T is not the greatest tranny in the world. if you want great performance out of it, it requires a certain degree of tranny build up. and most of the time, especially when the engine is cold, it takes a second for it to shift from 1st to 2nd and to 3rd, it's almost as if it doesn't wanna do it. :p however, if it really takes as long as 10 seconds like you said, then something could be wrong with your tranny.

Try checking your trans fluid...mine was doing some crazy stuff when it was low on fluid. Also if there is any questions plug it into a scan tool and see if you have any tranny codes.
