hey guys, i took out my stock radio and tape player, and its got (the deck) the two plastic plugs, an antenna plug and then the the plug from the tape player. im planning to put in a new deck myself, but how does it work? will the new deck will fit my car exactly? or do i have to do modding? im also planning on ripping out the stock speakers, and i was wondering...do you have to replace the wiring?
thanks

Well, as i'm sure you've seen - your deck it a double din, which is twice as tall as the single din deck i'm assuming you wish to install. There are plastic pieces to cover it up, or add a little pocket, or you can even make something - whatever.

As far as speakers, replacing them will be a fine idea, and not terribly hard. Replacing the wire, on the other hand, will be be a very hard task. You might want to look into that more before tackling it.

Also, since you have a 95 GSX you might have the infinity sound system. This came stock with a crappy little amp under your passenger seat. Unplug it, and take it out. If you have it, i can get you which wires you need to splice into for the dash speakers. (will require a passive or active crossover though - even a 140-220uf cap works fine)

I think that's all you asked - the new deck will fit fine, just wiring can be a pain unless you got a factory to standard color code harness.

Anyone know of where you can find a wiring diagram for the Infinity system? I would like to know exactly what all the wires do so I can maybe reuse the crappy little amp just for the dash speakers.

To anyone who puts in an aftermarket head unit, definetly look into either a passive x-over or an active one for those dash speakers. I put in two passive 199's and I still get mids and lows which have since made my driver side dash speaker blow. If you like the stock speakers (which they dont sound bad) DEFINETLY make sure to put an x-over on them.

The chassis wiring is all around and straightforward, apparently to whatever "standard" may have been instilled by the dopeheads doing stereos in those days. However, if you ever find one for the DIN cable to the amp and changer, let us all know.
