ok heres the deal I am getting crazy because I am super manic with car transmisions especially automtic ones

I have a 97 GST automatic

In the owners manual it says to check the tranny fluid level in NEUTRAL , at operating temp and after going trough all the gears, the thing is that I am often adding more fluid but i repaired the drain i had, so there is no fluid at all on the floor, I was scared i overfilled my trans today but after checking it on neutral it barely shows any fluid on the dipstick not even on cold spot, but if I do it on parking its above the dipstick level on the metal and with the car cold 2 hours off after driving it , it also shows the level at hot mark, so does the automatic 2g turbo check is in parking , and neutral is only for manual trans!?

Thats interesting as with an automatic transmission the level should read the same in both natural and park. I've always checked fluid on my cars with the car in park just because it's easier. Your torque convert will made a difference in fluid level if your filling your trans back up, but only in drive gears.

Just to make sure, are you cleaning the stick off with a clean wrag while checking it, transmission fluid will splash around so you need to pull the stick out, clean it off then put it back in the transmissions and check the level.

Thats the only suggestion I got :hmm:

then why it wont show barely anything on neutral but its way over the hot mark on parking and show a lot also while engine off and 2 hours resting, it also spited ATF while I was adding this morning.

yeah but I am pretty sure N/T are check in parking and turbos should be check in neutral I guess because in parking it will show more , but from nothing on neutral to over the top on parking seems wierd i tho it was about a quart of difference.
