AT model numbers

Ok, so I need a little clarification. The KM175-5 transmission is the F4A22-1 equivalent, right? From what I have found, the KM175-5 can either be a F4A22-1 or a F4A22-2, which is kinda confusing, but I imagine its the wiring or some small detail like that. I can't read the plate on my firewall anymore, and I need to know what model my transmission is, cause the serial # starts with a K instead of an F. I was thinking it was a KM175-5/F4A22-1, so I would need a 22-1, but I wanted to make sure before I bought anything. Any help or information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

I have several "F4A222" transmissions and all of them are actually stamped "KF4A222" so I just assumed the K is dropped for the F4A222's. The number is easy to find ... it's on top of the tranny just to the left of where the 2 coolant hoses go into it. I've got experience with 93 1.8, 93 2.0, and 94 1.8 tranny's and all stamped with K first that when dropped correspond to the sites numbers correctly.

There are several letters which follow the F4A222 which I believe to be most crucial ... for example the 93 1.8 is MPE, the 93 2.0 is MPE1, the 94 has MPF5 ... and despite looking absolutely identical ... same exact wires and connectors ... do not interchange! The differences are internal.

Here's a site which seems to show interchangeability (using their part numbers will show which will interchange) or so I'm told.
