arp head bolts.

You need 6bolt arp studs, but you have to have the head bolt holes in the head reamed out 1mm bigger.

You have sort of the same setup I have. I have a 6 bolt shortblock with an Evo 3 cylinder head. the 6 bolt Engines have 12mm head studs. The 7 bolt has 11mm. You would need take your cylinder head to a machine shop so they can retap the hole in your 2g cylinder head to 12mm. My Evo 3 head's like a 2g so I had to get mine retapped to 12mm in order for it to fit.

hope this helps:thumb:...

Actually the holes need to be enlarged or reemed to 13mm not 12mm, but you are correct about the stud sizes. And if you tell you machinist to tap or retap them they may take you literally and thread the holes.

what happens if i don't get them machined because i didn't know that and i put the 1g ones in with out getting them machined LOL... and now i am burning oil

Congrats you are now starving your head of oil ;). Are you using arp studs or factory head bolts? Factory head bolts will give you some clearance for oil, but very little arp studs will give you basically no oil clearance.

arp reason why im asking this is because im running a all stock head and now im burning oil and i thought it was the head so i was going to have it rebuilt and i needed to know what to do about the head studs OMG

A 1/2" drill bit and a drill press is all you need. No the porting of the holes will not have anything to do with burning oil. Do a compression/leakdown test if you want to diagnose your new problem.
