Quote from BryanWheat -

"The rear end ratio is the same on all 2g's, BUT, the final drive in the transmission has a different ratio as well as the transfer case. You need to match the transfer case to the transmission. The spline count is the same, but the gear ratio of the transfer is different. The 90-96 use the same transfer case ratio, and the 97-99 are different. "

I thought it was around there

Ok, James' TSI was a 96, I have his rear end so il need a 95-96 auto transmission. Got it.

Along with a 95-96 x case. If I only had the money. Il also gave to find AWD spindles, the rear axles are seized in there.

The little rock pick and pull has a 96 gsx with full drivetrain. Everything looked to be in good shape and in tact. Auto tranny By the way.

Oh snap. If I only had the money, how much you reckon the tyranny would go for?

Tranny** damn auto incorrect

Shipping is a pain.

Guess I could sell some AC compressors and a couple of core radiators. The 97s compressor is unbolted but sitting behind the motor. Reckon I could just take the MM loose and fish it out.

Brandon, was that a bad compressor?

Yeah this thread has really come up in posts in the past year or so. Had a couple of meets in the past year so everyone is pretty familiar with each other. I got some good news today. I will be picking up the head and the block from the machine shop either Wednesday or Thursday depending on when I can get to it. I am about 70% finished on the Talon. I have a few more things to do before the Talon is ready for the engine but I figure by the time I'm done putting the engine back together I should have the car ready for the engine. I can't wait to see what kind of power it's going to be putting down. I'm hoping to hit the 270 mark.

Where did you get your engine work done at? How was the work there...

As far as gaming, have both PS3 and 360 but dont really play anymore, the boys are on them non-stop.

In fact I have 3 Xbox 360's... Ill have a Razorback Edition 360 finished before long.

I haven't picked up the engine yet. Going to try and get there today if I can get away from work. I used rebel rebuilders here in LR. I had the block decked, vatted, bored .20 over, polished the crank, balanced the rotating assembly, engine painted, pistons put on the rods, new freeze plugs, and the head redone. He quoted me 750 for all of that before the tax man gets his cut. I'll find out later on when I pick it up what the total is and I'll get some pics on here of the finished product. As far as workmanship I heard he was the man to take it too. Lots of dirt track racers use him and when you walk in his shop it's the most oraganized and cleanest shop I've ever been in.

For the record, I -should- be down around that area this weekend. :) Going to help work on my future Talon.

Well guys, I heard a whisper about here in Batesville they may section off a part of the airport to let us have some fun! Letting us have fun for charity! :hellyeah:

Man, I'd donate for a place to have fun!

Got'em in now time to reassemble. It was a little cheaper than originally stated but all in all I'm extremely happy with the end result.

Looks like damn good machine work.

They didn't belt-sand that head did they?

And you should also look into doing BogusSVO's head mods!

I have already made plans for the head mods. I don't think they did block sand it. They have all the machine tools there. That is a real machine shop i dealt with. Their shop us meticulously clean. Plus they aren't hurting for work. I counted at least 10+ engines there. The old man is super cool. He showed me his awesome 70 chevelle 2 door. 373 Stroker fuel injected. Freaking sweet. His wife has a mint 98 Trans am ws6 with only 6800 miles on it. This guy has been doing engines for 20+ years.

Nice, I haven't got into the KA yet but I like how that turned out. I may talk to them about my block.

Well the sheet i posted with the prices won't change. So you could get an idea how's much everything you would want done to it.. They was recommended by allot of dirt track racers and some guys around the airport. Its a shame I'm putting those pistons where i can't see them. they are almost too pretty to put back in the engine but i think the end result is going to be sweet.
