When you hear about tansmissions exploding and how your stage two build pick doesn't cover it.... This is what they're talking about

Nah, that's what it looked like when they pulled it apart. The 3-4 hub and slider exploded, reverse idler gear was almost dead thanks to it being an early jdm trans (no synchro), 1st gear and input shaft was worn down to where it needed replacment because it wont hold the power (sad because it's a taller gear then the dsm and evo)... None of that is covered in the stage two build so it's just extra, I don't mind all that much as long as it can hold what i'm putting down.

ROFL

I want a 16g, anyone got one for sale!?

Sorry guys and gals this is the turbo il be choosing. ;)

Got the wish list set up.

2.0 bored over 30-40 2.4 stroker (2.4crank maybe butchered) forged pistons (not sure on brand)

Head: titanium valves etc- three angle valve job, ported and polished- was thinking a set of 272s

Fuel: 750 injectors maybe 1ks, 255 fuel pump. ( want to be on pump gas) aem apfr regulator

Turbo- this beautiful hx35w. 25-30psi.

Transmission- stock automatic untill it goes and will upgrade from there.

New upper, lower, ball joints, cv axles, hub and bearings. Struts (brand new set off Luke's car) sway bar bushings, Polly motor mounts,

Tuning- DSM link, LC1 wide band.

I'm looking for a very mild 400whp so it can be driven on the street. The reason Some of these things seem like over kill is I don't want to be maxing everything out all the time. Keep it in a comfort zone untill I get more experience on the tuning aspects, then take it to the track and turn it up. :)

OH and a FMIC and a slim fan/ radiator LOL

Not a bad way to spend ten thousand dollars.

Lolz.

Sounds like a good build. If you're wanting to put down more power later you can get the bigger pump and the 1k injectors or bigger and run e85 (a fast retune and you can be back on 93, if that's what you wanted)

272's seem to be the basic these days, always a good option to go with. It's all about the power your wanted further down the line. 280's could also be something to look into.

LOL, that's funny but I have to say, pictures or it didn't happen. hahaha

True... unfortunatly it was one of those spur the moment deals on the interstate. I was unprepared for it. We did do 2 runs and the traffic was light so I was focused on what was at hand. I do have a motorolla phone that has this dash mount that came with it and I'm going to set it up to maybe try and record some things. The problem with that is finding a good spot to capture events and still be able to get it setup in time.

I will give some insight on it. The guy merges onto the interstate as I am in the far left. He tries to pass full throttle on the first attempt. I shut him down as he reaches the pass side front door. I stay ahead of him sliding through traffic. I slow up to around 60 for the next run. Again he attempts a fly by. I wait till he gets right past my driver door and open her back up. I pass by around 100 and hold her to around 130 before getting out of it. I was atleast 2 cars ahead of him before I let out of it.

The specs on the 2004 Audi TT are as follows( Just guesing on the year but this was somewhere around there). 225 hp 205 tq. Curb weight is 3260 ish if I remember correclty and this is motor trend specs. His is a 1.8 Single Turbo

The specs of my 2011 Kia Optima SX-T. 275 hp 269 tq. Curb weight is 3375. I have the 2.0 Single turbo with an Injen Intake.

Spencer- don't forget the $600-$1000 exhaust manifold your gonna need to run the HX. Are you going to run an external gate. I know you can get one modified to run the internal?

Great advice, il look into it. The closest corn gas is in Cabot unfortunately. But things may change in the future. This is a slow build. Once I get the motor out I plan on cleaning up and painting the engine bay. Checking and re wrapping all of the wiring not sure exactly what color to go with.

When I say slow build, I mean slow. Lol

I think a few of the NWA guys and myself are lucky when it comes to E85, it's all over the place here. That and we have a station that has c12 and c16 albeit 8+ a gallon.

Don't worry about being slow on your build, mine has taken years... like ten... and i'm still doing things to it. Time just means it's being done the way it should be just keep going and your good.

Sadly my car had been sitting for so long while I was out of state for college and what-not that all my fuel setup had to be replaced and i'm still finding bugs here and there... Like my wiring for the ecu, I'll take a picture of it here in the next few days.

I'm just happy I've gotten the leaking VC taken care of thanks to Mantic (enjoy the beer, man.) Got her cleaned up some. My major work is going to be getting the trans back in (without issue) and the retune. Hope to have her back running this time next week.

NP sir I actually just went ahead and ordered that recall U joint fir that end of the driveshaft I actually hope to have it on the road this weekend finding out my bugs.

Nice! I hope to have mine going this weekend or the middle of next... somewhere around there. We'll have to do something once we're both running.

Oh yeah! I also still need to get my my bushing kit in.

LOL of the cat loving the bushing kit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ROFL

I set up the camera on my driver side window in hopes of catching some footage. It is a motorola atrix hd that captures in 1080p. The only draw back is that where its mounted I have a very limited amount line of sight but it is angled perfect to capture the side mirror if i'm in front....

Hope to have some youtube videos soon. All though the Audi was my second official race in the Optima. The first was a 2010 Mustang GT that had some mods from what I could here it sounded good that smoked me. He was in a five speed and it was soooo obviose buy the way he left me sitting still.

I do have a guy here at work that wants to run me in a 06 BMW 330XI. I am contemplating that one at the moment but I might do it to see where i stand against it.

The top end on those 330i's is strong. It is an XI so watch out for the AWD launch.

Yeah that's my concern. I will say I can stage my car up and get the turbo spooled prior to take off. Leave the TC on and she holds with little to no wheel spin( unlike w/o TC on where I spin like a mad man). my 0-60 is 6.5 but thats not my time( Motor Trend).I am also banking on this guy not knowing how to launch very well. His specs are 255hp 220tq and curb weight 3612. I will wait till I have less than a quarter tank of fuel to maybe help with my weight

I will try and setup the run and try and get some video....

I wish I had the $650 for the tune for my car

LOL! The cat approves of the tasty bushing kit.

Race him and if he walks away on you, tell him to come up to my area. I'll avenge the hell out of you.

ROFL... Yeah i'm sure he'll go for that. I am hoping to get this guy. He's a " BMW this BMW that" blah blah BMW blah blah blah BMW BMW BMW BMW kind of guy.

Don't get me wrong I had a 1988 BMW 325IS 5 speed and it was quick and fun to drive plus well engineered but I can't stand a guy who won't STFU about a car. If you say anything about any kind of car he buts in with his BMW crap and you can't get him to shut up.
