i noticed when i registered here on dsm tuner you have drop menu to pick your car. but didnt have anything lower than a 90 and no starquests. i know i personally think of my car to be a dsm, but are they actually a part of the dsm family? i mean starquests came as: mitsubishi starion, chrysler conquests, plymouth conquest, and dodge conquest. i know kind of random and not actually a tech question. but was just wondering. i mean, if we really are, it would be nice to see years going to 83 and maybe 'starion' in that drop menu. thanks guys.

Technicly no they aren't. DSMs are categorized as T/E/Ls, and GVR4s. I also include EVOs as DSMs because in my mind anything with a 4g63/64 engine is a DSM at heart. Only way I would drive a honda is with a 4G63 engine in it, kinda :sneaky: super sleeper.

thanks dustin. actually someone just told me that we are pre-dsm. he said dsms were made in normal, IL along with a number of other things that make a dsm a dsm. kinda curious as to what it is that makes a dsm a dsm now though. thanks again.

DSM is Diamond Star Motors. Anything made by them is a DSM. The first DSM made was the 89 GVR4. 9 where produced without the ID badge and where showroom cars. They then produced the E/L/T for America. If I remember right DSM's closed in 92-94 and anything after that is actually really not a "DSM" since Mitsubishi actually made them off of the DSM design.

Technically, no, the Starquests aren't DSM's. They were products of the partnership of Chrysler and Mitsu, much like the 3000GT and Stealth. Those are also not technically DSM's, but they are generally considered the "sister car" or "cousin" or "big brother" (etc.) of the DSM.

You do know that the 4g63 was used in several other cars, including several different Hyundais, the Mitsu Cordia, Tredia, Vista, and Dodge Colt. None of those are considered DSM's, however.

Interestingly enough, the Dodge Avenger, Stratus, and Chrysler Sebring were also made in the Normal plant. They're not considered DSM's, though if you look at the interior of an Avenger and compare with the interior of a 2g DSM, they're virtually identical.

Just like all the other times it's been asked, and on the first page where DSMs are defined, they're not. Neither are the Dodge Caravans, Avengers, Cirruses, nor other cars that have the DSM logo on the VIN plate.
