Anything different about 1990's datalogging wise?

You can still read the code right? So there is no known way to clear them? Would i have to go with a 91-94 ecu? The ebay seller won't respond to my questions, but others have liked the cable and had a good transaction with this guy so i think i am going to buy it.

Yes you can read the codes and log.
You have to disconnect the power to clear them. Or if you have a EPROM ECU change the software to the later versions. It's just the routine to clear the codes that missing from the 90 versions.

When I bought a similar cable, I was told that the 90 didn't supply enough power on a given pin to turn the cable on (there's a small IC in one end, apparently) to run his 91-94 version, but that he also sold a version specifically for the '90. Could be outright BS, but that's what I was told.

Who sold the 90 specific cable. Also what is the "IC" you are talking for stand for. If a cable didn't turn on because of this, do you think there would be a way to easily modify it?

That could be possible. The auto on cables usually have a SCR to pull the mode line (pin 10) to ground when the datastream from the computer starts.

Don't even remember who it was, it's been like two years. He was setting up some obvious URL along the lines of dataloggers.com or something, but it wasn't up last time I'd checked. Ran right around $30, shipped.

IC = Integrated Circuit. The datalogger cables have a small logic board in one end of the cable (usually the laptop end) rather than being pin to pin straight cables.

That's what I was told... not enough power, or wouldn't get the right signal to switch the cable logic on.

In any case, after a quick Googlesearch, here's a decent place that has 1G logger cables in stock:
http://obdloggers.com/mitsubishi.htm
The one I have looks like their $45 standard cable, down near the bottom of the page. Obviously, email them before purchase to make sure it'll work with the '90 model year, or to see if they have one specifically for the '90.

I really want a auto-on cable so i can leave it connected, or else i would just buy a normal one. Thanks for the help.

Do you have working ABS? If not, it makes no difference.

The whole point of auto-on is to avoid putting the ABS computer into diagnostic mode at startup.
Removing the mode pin from the ABS computer connector also works.
