Anyone use door poppers before?

Alright so when I bought my Eclipse, there was a code alarm system in with power door locks, so I didn't notice that the doors had been changed (or maybe the ignition) and the locks couldn't be opened from the outside with a key. I have the drivers door torn apart and the lock removed to fix it, and am wondering if I want to take the handle out completly and use door poppers or not...

Option 1 - Remove the outside door handle, fill in the space, install poppers. Not really sure though if it gets annoying not having a door handle, I am going to add motors on the lambo hinges but still think I might regret this.

Option 2 - Door poppers suck, use power locks and just remove/fill in the keyhole.

I've only seen poppers on a car once, but it looked like the door was actually kicked open, violently...I like the idea though of them opening automatically so kinda confused atm. Anyone who's used them before, any thoughts would be appreaciated, thanks.

I have never used them but I have seen door poppers on a 2G. The mounting of the solenoid is the biggest problem. If you dont have power door locks, it might not be hard. If you do, there isn't much room to work with for mounting the solenoid since the big motor is mounted inside the door. You can also use a seperate battery so if the one under the hood dies, you wont be locked out of your car. I have heard this is both easy and hard. I would just use the door handle. So much easier and less frustrating.

i used to have them when i was 16, i bought a mini truck with them and honestly, they were a PITA. the solenoid's were right behind the cab, and anyone who pressed the button for it could get into my truck. i highly wouldn't recommend doing it that way.

i actually installed autolocs shaved door hadle kit on my 2g eclipse this summer.
i couldnt be happier with the results. it was time consuming mounting the solenoids inside the doors to clear the panel but i made it work. i wish i had pics of it unfortunatly im up at school and they are home on my camera. as far as your battery dieing/ getting locked out of your car i made a water proof box and have a button so it will pop open the drivers side if i leave me keys in the car on accident i know it sounds funny but it happends to everyone. and incase the battery dies there is a posative lead in there to the solenoid so you just have to hit it real quick with a jumper cable from somes car and the drivers door opens.
as far a the doors opening violently auto locs kit has adjustable popers so you jus have to take time and set them. and its a remote system like a keyless entry one button for drivers door one for passengers door. any other questions i would be happy to answer

I had some on my cavalier that had lambos on it when I was 16 (i know wtf right LOL). The things were the biggest POS ever. I hated everything about them. The always failed.. One time they failed and I couldnt get in my car so I busted my window out. I would never recomend them to anyone ever! A guy I work with had a set on his mini truck and he always had problems with them also.

I have used and installed many kits, Autoloc is far the best. I wouldn't worry about being locked out of a hatchback car you could always use your key to get in the hatch. I would have to say it will get old and its one of those mods you can't just undo real quick (if done right). I also wouldn't ever want lambo doors on a dd they just to much trouble keeping in line and working right.

they are violent... a friend of mine had poppers and lambo doors... after getting both installed i went to check it out.... long story short... first pop will give u a little jump but when the springs from the lambo doors catch and lift the door and smokes u in the face then your pissed...

I have them on my eclipse....I had the door handles shaved and I open the doors via the alarm remote buttons. I also have a button hidden where if I ever close my door with the keys in it all I would need to do is push the button and the drivers door pops open. If you ever lose battery power just open the hatch with the key and climb in. The worst part of no handles is most tracks will not let you race....
