hey has anyone bought the Holley Thunder catback ? i just got one for 100 shipped to me on ebay brand new! just has a damaged box. just wanted to know if anyone else had this? ill post the link so if anyone else wants one they can get one. not a bad price for 2 1/2 mandrel piping and a muffler. i think it is worth it for the piping alone then if the muffler sounds bad cut it off and put something better on! anyways check them out. by the way im not selling these.

I have this exhaust on my car now, it bolted right up, using stock hangers. The muffler tip is HUUUGE its actually 5 inches. When it first went on it sounded terrible in my opinion, VERY loud, and not very clean. (think wet fart in coffe can). I had the muffler shop add a resonator and that cleared it up a great deal. It is now a loud (sometimes a bit annoying), pretty decent sounding exhaust. Loudest at about 3k in my car. Definitely worth the money for the piping, might want to consider a diff muffler, if the sound is too much for you. The car seemd to accelerate smoother in my opinion afterwards, seemed to breathe alot better.
Hope this helped some.

thanks for the reply. can you tell me if it slip fits together or does it bolt together? any chance you have a sound clip? i figured for the price i at least got the mandrel bent piping and i could always find a nice muffler.

i don't like it.it even looks annoying.youdon't want a real loud mufflr it gets annoying.i used to ave one of those old cannon type ultra flo mufflers and it just got old after bout a year.go with something that sounds nice and deep.my isht was so loud that i had to put the biach in neutral when i was aproaching a cop so as not to draw any unwanted attention.
just my .02

Or you can do what I plan on doing here next week. I plan on buying the exhaust and then heading down to my local muffler shop and then getting them to install a different muffler(small dual tip) and some resonators I am getting from RRE. The price is worth it just for the mandrel piping cause no one does it sown here and all together that exhaust will cost me $200 instead of a $400 Exhaust that wont sound as good.

that is what i figure it should be here today or tomorrow and i will take some pictures. im going to install it and see if it is to loud and if it is then i will either put my Apexi muffler on or find something else.

It Arrived today and the box was HUGE anyways looks awesome to me IMO. let me know what you think

it is 2.25 for about 1/4 of an inch just where the cat meets the pipe then it is 2.5 the rest of the way through. but im going to chop half and inch off when i weld a high flow cat in there. i like the way the tip looks even though it is huge but not bad for $100

You might want to get some resonators ready so if it is too loud you can put those on to lower the sound a little bit. It looks damn good, especially to my wallet.

that is the most disgustingly ugly nasty looking horrible exhaust i have ever seen, i feel sorry for any of you who actualy put those fart can canister exhausts on your car. Hate to break it to you but it dont look good nor sound good. The honda people around here do exhaust like that and we all laff at them.

Most of us buy this exhaust because it's cheap and if we want to make it quiet we weld on resonators. If for:

Exhaust- 100
Resonators- 40
Exhaust shop fee 50
-----
$190

Now someone go find a perfect exhaust that is going to make everyone happy for $190, not gonna happen but at least this one can be as quiet or as loud as we want it to be for waaaayyyyyy cheaper than any other exhaust on the market. :p

well if you don't like it that's fine but the price was definitly right. IMO it doesn't look that bad and as long as it sounds decent that is all that matters. if it doesn't then i will buy another muffler for it and add a resonator as suggested. if you don't like it don't buy it.
by the way it's not Laff it is Laugh.

by the way i spell laff like that on purpose and by the way its NASTY looking its garbage, if u pay near nothing u get nothing, you will get no gain no good sound no nothing, it will prob rust out on u faster then a good one ever would. please if your gonna mod your car do it right dont put worthless things on it like gaudy oversized exhausts that make the car sound like a weed wacker on steroids. I don't own my eclipse anymore but when i did i would never disgrace it with a canister exhaust. EW! :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown

hey man im not here to insult you, all im saying is that if you don't like it don't buy it. just because i didn't pay $600 for my exhaust doesn't mean that it is a piece of crap. if the muffler sounds bad that is fine the piping was well worth the money and i won't mind buying a better muffler for it. no ned to tell me that it is crap ill determine that for myself. thanks for your opinion though.

Im really wondering how it sounds, so did you install it or what. I looked and this guy isn't selling these right now but I emailed him about them so we'll see what happens. Sound clip if possible just to see how loud it is would be great. :thumb:

i haven't installed it yet. I want to but we just got two feet of snow and I haven't installed it yet. I probably won't take the car out of storage for another couple of weeks until the snow is gone. but when I do I will post up sound clips and stuff. The seller was easy to deal with, just ask him if he has any damage box specials. I got the damaged box special and there was nothing wrong with it, the box wasn't even really messed up.

well i got it installed this morning and the final cost was

Exhaust - $100.00
Install - $50.00
total -$150.00

not bad at all. this thing is LOUD as hell it doesn't sound as good as the Apexi Muffler did but it looks a hell of alot better IMO but im going to give it a little while and then if i don't like the sound i will weld in my Apexi and possibly a resonator. i gave sound clips but i don't have anywhere to host them so if you are interested in hearing them and want to host them for everyone that would get great.

Get some resonators cause I know that will make it sound much better. Also I believe Wal-Mart and just about any auto place sells this stuff called uuuuuhhhhh CAR WASH!! The exhaust looks awesome a lot better than I thought it would with that bucket of an exhaust tip. LOL!

Edit: I just measured my old one and it was 4.5 so I can't say much

Does it sound any better now that it's had time to break in? I'm thinking about picking one up but I definitely dont want the honda sound.

just a little fyi for those guys who were adding up the prices of their exhausts...

only a tad bit under $600, and is well worth the money! :thumb: I know that gsgoinfast and I both have this exhaust and it sounds great. Already has a resonator welded in, and cannot be mistaken for a honda "fart can" as I've read it being called. I sure believe it is one of the best catbacks out there, especially for the price :rocks:
