My commute to school is 5 minutes in my car, however from my assigned parking, my walks are 10-15 minutes any given day between classes and such. I will need to bring a bike to school, and it wont fit in the Laser Beam.

I found some people I believe who run this bolt on tow kit, I was wondering what is the lowest point on it, because the only type of bike rack that will work will drop about 4-5 inches lower than the lowest point of the hitch area.

Here's the setup i am thinking about.

Yes I AM trying to avoid roof racks at all costs. I would reconsider if mitsu still made rain guards and door rubber, however, they do not. And I don't want a rack raping my rainproof car.

Also does it leave plenty room for exhaust setups?

Here are the prospects:

1 1 4" Class 1 Trailer Receiver Tow Hitch w Pin Clip 2K CM11191 | eBay

2 Bicycle Bike Swing Down Rack Hitch Mount Carrier Car Truck SUV RV Heavy Duty | eBay

Notice how I do not need a real hitch receiver, only the ball mount version. I was surprised I found a bolt-on setup.

Go to Wal mart and buy a bike rack. You will have to extend the straps to fit the hatchback but it will work. I raced bikes and carried it many miles on the back of my 1g. Don't bother with spending more that it's worth unless you are paranoid about something happening. I never had any paint or dent issues from the weight of the bike and rack on.

Mne came with a uhall hitch on all wired up. got real stupid one day and tested it out by pulling a double axel trailer with 300gal of pesticde to my house 3 miles away up a hill. It did very well and nothing broke so tugging your bike around will be a piece of crumb cake.

you sure you aren't related to anyone in my home town sounds like something my buddies would do LOL

Just get quick release hubs for your bike and take the rims off, fold down the back seat and throw it all back there. That's what I do. I have a hitch on my 99 the previous owner installed because he was a cyclist. If I did that with with my bike, with my luck I'd look out my rearview mirror and see it sliding across the highway... right under a semi. But I have used the hitch to pull small trailers, waverunners, my stranded POS Cobalt that got stuck... it is a nice thing to have.

Two different cars. Yours is a 2g his is a 1g laser. I'm pretty sure the 1g has a smaller trunk area and is a bit narrower.

Yeah, I know. I was just sharing my experience with having one and giving another possible option. And if the 1g trunk area is smaller, get a BMX bike with quick release hubs... :D If I feel ambitious when I get home, maybe I'll see if I can shove my Y-22 into my 92 and report back. But my 92 does have the battery relocated to the trunk, so I'm at a bit of a disadvantage...:hmm:

Wherw did you have the tow hitch located at? I want to put one on mine ### I always have friends that need a tow and I have to use a litlle corolla to tow LOL. I just want just in case of an emergency you know. Can u post a pic?
