airbag = life
If you have a 4 point I would ditch the air bag. I agree that they can save lives. But they can kill too. Air bags are hit or miss. It all depends on the accident. I hit a guad rail at about 20. Not head on but on the drivers headlight. My bag blew and burnt the crap out of my arms. No more bags for me.

It is a straight foward install. After you get the big bolt off the column the whell is pressed on. Pull hard and it will work it's way off. The rest depends on what wheel you buy and what hub you use.

if you have a good harness go for it. But when you hit something hard, don't expect anything to stop your head from flying forward and hurting/breaking your neck.

Take off the airbag by unscrewing two screws in the back of the steering wheel. Unplug it. Take off the giant nut that holds the steering wheel on. Put the new one on straight. Tighten it down.

Let me chime in since I've done this and noticed a point the rest of you missed. I have a Sparco steering wheel and Sparco hub. I had to cut the wires to the black plastic rotating ring that is behind the steering wheel and remove it, then I could fit the hub on all the way. But before that, do what the others told you to do and unbolt the steering wheel and unplug the airbag and horn, etc...

When ever taking out the air bag. Remember to take out the battery and then wait 10mins for the backup batterie for the air system to power down.
