Anyone have this 1g Turbo Kit?

i don't know of a single owner. think about it, all the nt guys are too cheap to buy a turbo in the first place so you think they're going to buy an expensive kit? the very few who do actually turbo their cars (instead of posting non-stop threads about thinking about doing it) pieced everything together themselves instead of buying a kit. i'm sure there are peole out there who've done it, they just don't seem to read this internet forum.

Well Mavisky I'm glad you replied because you’re one of the most knowledgeable people on here.
I would have a tsi right now but insurance in Alberta is the highest in North America($5,000 for a TSI)

What I want to do is turbo my car with low boost like 5-6psi so I don't have to worry about bigger injectors, ECU, turbo maf, and knock sensor, ect. I want to build a reliable low presure turbo car not a tsi. Most of the threads out there are only about making N/T a TSI or GST.

I know that a 14b turbo can run a minimum of 8psi, is there anyway to change that? Is there a way I can set the 14b at 5psi with out buying a boost controller?

Thanks

boost controller wont help on that one. an MBC works by leaking out some boost that goes to the wastegate. lets say you have it set to leak out 2 psi. then it takes the turbo 2 more psi of boost to make up for that 2psi leak and open the wastegate. you can raise the boost and lower it, but you cant lower it past the stock wastegate setting, since the MBC cant create more boost to send to the actuator to open it earlier. get it? so, the only way to lower the stock boost is to tear apart the wastegate and change the actuator spring out wiht a weaker one. this is the part that detered me from my project

Is that turbo kit street legal? My car mileage is 230000km,is it safe to put my car?

if you're asking if its been tested to pass emissions the answer is an emphatic no. highly doubt this small company had the resources to fully test this small setup to make it pass emissions.

Ok I'm a bit confused.
if I turbo my car at 5psi will I need a turbo mas, ecu or knock sensor?
is a fuel regulator the only thing I need?
other than the, mani, turbo, waste gate, piping, lines.

I know my fuel pump will be good enough but I'm not sure about the injectors.

Mav, I noticed you said I while ago, that you know someone running a turbo without turbo mas and ECU, can you get me more details? I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for all the help.

i dont know the answer to your other questions, but get a Vortech Super fuel management unit. its a fuel pressure regulator that is boost sensitive. ive heard good things about it.

even an nt fuel pressure regulator is boost sensitive. same as the stock turbo ones. that thing would be a big waste of money for us.

i have no idea the names or the exact setups of the guys who are running nt-turbo without the turbo mas.

Can I lower the boost by bending the actulator rod so the wastegate flapper is open a bit allowing less boost? I'm going to turbo it on sunday, and i'm trying to get down to 5psi, with a used 14b. My friend just upgraded everything on his 1g turbo, so I think I have everything i need.

just run 7 you'll be fine. bending the rod would raise the pressure if anything.

There is a guy on http://www.2gnt.com/ who ran a 14B setup with a modified wastegate spring, so he was pushing less boost. I can't recall his name off the top of my head, but you can try sorting through a search to find some info.
