Looking in to getting some of thse with some tokico 5 way illumina's.

Anyone have pics of the drop????

thanks

that looks really nice man, you even have pics with the stock rims I do :D

Which tokico shocks are you running? And how is your ride?

I am running the blue ones (non adjustable).

The ride is a little choppy, but my main gripe is that they squek. I had the same setup on my old accord, and they squeek alot too. My roomie has the white tube shocks (5-way adjustable), they are very nice, he has no noise, and the fact that you can dial in your firmness based on situation is very nice. I wish i had spent the scrilla to get the better units.

The worst thing about the drop was that it sent my front caster off by almost a full inch in the passenger front, and negative .45" on the drivers side.

My ride is about 1/2" lower with the 19's on there, and to be honest, the ride was so much smoother than I had anticipated. I ordered the sport springs (.5" drop), but got sent the race springs, it wasnt until they were on that I really noticed what I was putting on (blame the beer).

I would either go with the adjustable shocks, or go with another brand, the non-adjustable ones arent good enough to warrant the investment.

PM me with any more questions, or if you want some pics. And dont forget to pick up a camber kit.

Your roomate has h&r races on his dsm too?

Oh and is a camber kit necessary for this drop?

He has it on a subie.

And anytime you lower your car you run the very serious risk of throwing your toe, camber, and caster settings off. When you do this, you will run through a set of tires very, very quickly.

A friend of mine wanted that "tucked" look on her integra, well she went through a set of tires every 3 months because they didnt make a camber kit that would correct it that much.

It is basically cheap insurance. Get a camber kit, install it, then get a full allignment every time you affect the height of the car.

I had almost -3 toe on the front, and the camber was off by about 5%.

One of the coolest things i have heard about is at LesSchuab tires, they used to offer an allignement that was guaranteed for 50K miles, so when you hit a bump and throw it off, they reset it. But they dont do performance allignments, just back to OEM.

And it is not adjustable without a camber kit. The Engalls kit is very popular for DSM's. Just dont use washers, they break.

I've heard everyone say to use the washer method on the back, including jtmcinder - so not sure about that.

The only reason I'm asking about all this is because I don't want my ride to suck. It seems the only way to get the drop I would like will be to spend the money and get the teins (which I'm seriously considering saving up for since I've found the basics for 729 shipped) or getting koni yellows - I just really don't know if the illuminas are good enough of a shock for a h&r race style drop.

Thanks for your help btw

i have heard nothing but good things about the tien's. Give them a try, and let me know how they ride.

The washer method is useful, but not permanent. A friend (with a 12.8 sec GSX) had washers, but they broke, and wore a hole through the rod holes, now he has $300 of welding to get those holes back to round, and strengthened.

I'm sorry, but are you really saying that someone who put washers behind the rear upper arm brackets (to reduce rear camber) actually had a washer break? That's crazy. How the heck do you break a washer that is under (minor) compression?

With regard to TEINs, they have too much compression damping for the amount of rebound damping and only the ultra-expensive TEIN shocks have separate adjusters.

Um, I mean they were on the car. He drove the car, and while rolling fenders, and painting callipers, we looked and about 3 of the washers had broken, split in half, or fallen out.

I dont know how else to explain it, it is not like he hired 5 schoolgirls to go under the car and pry on the washers. They were broken.

We live in Washington State, so salt or harsh winters werent a factor.

Personally, I used a billet cylinder with the center drilled out, it seems to work fine.
