2G anyone have experience with rechargeing AC

Ok so I turn on my AC and I have no cold air coming out . I imagine I have no freon in there ...has anyone experienced this and knows about how many of those recharge cans it would take ?

There is usually a reason why it leaked out that needs to be addressed, then the system needs to be vacuumed down before filing. Mitsubishi decided to use the condenser as the radiator rock shield so it's not uncommon for them to have holes.

The A/C is covered in the FSM including the amount of refrigerant.

When this happens to me I always just buy a can of 134r with stop leak from any local car parts place and put it in. If its just low it should at least bring it back up to pressure and cause the compresser to kick on (turn your ac on before you begin filling). Buy one of those checp ac thermometers to stick in the vent and fill it up slowly untill the temp stops dropping, then its full. If it all leaks out in a matter of a day or week, the leak is too big and something will need repaired/replaced.

alittle more complex then that. first you should check the low side with a guage set to make sure somthing is in there, if it isnt all gone, it should be between 35-40psi on the low side and 250psi on the high. but if its empty u should fill the system with nitrogen to find the leak, repair it, vacuum it down to boil the moisture out then charge it

so my best bet is to just take it for a recharge ? or try the can first?

Best bet is to buy some dye and trace the leak.

Or take it to a professional, and have them trace the leak.

If the system is bone dry you might have to jump the compressor to get it to fill (quick fix since leak finding and repair could be a PITA).

If it worked last year and then this year nothing, it is a leak. If you have noticed it getting weaker, by that I mean not able to cool as well, then you just need a recharge, over 10+ years it will slowly leak out. The best way to detect a leak is to run a dye through the system and then check with a florecent light, that way you can pin point the leak, there are probably 10 places if not more a seal can be bad, or your could just have scored a hole in the condensor like Steve said.
