Anyone ever use a 2g gauge cluster in 1g

May sound like a stupid question but i might as well ask it..
Mainly speaking because I like how the 2gs clusters register to 170
opposed to the 1g speedo only registering to 145... And obviously
Id prefer to see it at 170 because im sure most of our high hp dsm
go faster than the 145.

Im thinking it probably wont work because of ecu differences and wiring differences and etc but just curious if anyone has ever thought of this.

The wiring is different between the two. Also, unless you do some major gear work on the tranny you will never see more than 152 tops. Our cars aren't the safest thing above 140 anyways.

Oh and by the way, you wouldn't see that trap speed in the 1/4 mile unless you had alot of work done. So, you weren't planning on trying that on the highway right?

On a very lonely stretch of road I've managed to get into the 140s. As stated I wouldn't recommend doing this on any type of regular basis or over any lengthy span of time as you will be rather high in the RPMs.

Also as stated, you will not get any faster in the long haul unless you at the very least get the upgraded 5th gear. Plus some very serious motor work to trap into or maintain that speed.

Also as stated, some well thought out work on the suspension.

What do you mean by not the safest thing above 140, you mean aerodynamically or suspension and breaking wise? And I wasnt saying I was going to go that fast on the highway just like the way their cluster looks, and Im most likely going to end up with a 2nd gen tranny, ( are 2g trannys geared the same through 4th and 5th as 1g gsts?)
And I thought modded dsms topped out higher than 145 since the 2gs have 170 on the dash?? (ive never gone over 125 so i wouldnt know )

Like I said I know it was a stupid question but I had to ask it somewhere, I didnt really contemplating doing it, but just thinking in terms of being custom, and I didnt really pay attention to what forum I was in when I posted it because I probably posted it last night or in the mournin half sleep.
