Anybody using these ebay 2g intercooler pipes (uper and lower)?

I've installed that kit on a friend's car with no problems at all. Worked great and for the price you can't beat it. The kit he had looked the same as it did in the advertised pictures, a very nice chromed finish.

I think they used to sell a more crappier piece with the elbow being a sharp 90 degrees and with no beaded ends. I think they modified it so it performs better.

I bought the kit from ebay awhile back and installed in on my 2g TSI, went fairly easy. the almost 90degree angled elbow was kind of difficult. Some pieces fit real snug and rubbed a lil even though they fit. In order to get mine to fit, I had to pull a coupler totally over one pipe, put the pipe in place and then shimmy the coupler over the other pipe. (upper)Now the lower pipe was a different story, I had to cut the lower pipe a considerable amount to make it fit. Other than that, nice looking piece for the price, seemed to work fine. ;)

could you post some engine pics ###. I'm really curious of how this thing looks like.

i had it on my gsx, casper03 now has the gsx, and it was a easy as pie intstall, and it looked better than any id seen before. i like them.

look at the picture I posted, again. The bend doesn't appear to be a full right angle. It appears to curve...................

I would not buy anything from a place called altezzaworld. Those are tacky because the metal is real thin and they get very hot (I looked at some that were installed on an eclipse at a shop near where i live). That 90* bend looks like a 5 year old designed it. They cost 50 dollars less then greddy. I would get greddy or dave brode uicp. Dont cheap out on ebay parts especially if they are not cheap. I learned it the hard way.

just letting you know when i saw this kit i was pissed because not for nothing i think its an exact clone of the greddy kit..no joke..with soem extraparts..dont konw about the couplers though..but the piping..looks the same as my greddy and for the price who the hell would say no..buy it and try it folks!!

I agree, they are copies of the greddy pipes... The only difference I see is the elbow is not cast and does not have the greddy name on it. For the right price id buy these over the greddy version.
And how can one say this would be more restrictive then stock, if youve seen the stock
2G UICP and how SMALL it gets under the fuse box then youd know this would be an upgrade, even with a 90 degree bend

Any one with these post up info on the quality of the metal and welds please

I bet you my left testicle the stock bend directs airflow better than a pie cut sharp 90 like that. It's common sense man. If you really measured and looked at the stock pipe, you'd probably discover it's not that bad. It gets flat, not small. It's just a shape change. It's probably similarly sized to the round part of the upic a few inches up. If I had one handy I'd measure the circumference of it on the bend and not on the bend and divide it by 3.14. I bet it's damn close.

I believe that this is the kit that came on my tsi. the fitament is great and the flange works great with my greddy type-s. Only problem that i have with it is that it doesnt let me bolt my fuse box down anymore because the piping gets in the way.

FYI flatter is actually worse due to an increase in surface area (and therefore friction and heat) for a given amount of cross sectional area. Also, the plastic tubing that the stock parts are made of causes more friction than metal (especially polished aluminum) due to the inherent properties (molecular uniformity) of the material. Additionally, the aluminum will dissipate heat more quickly than the plastic parts and therefore decrease the air temperature at the intake.

Also, that elbow would be better if it were mandrel bent so that it was smooth and had a constant cross sectional area with respect to the direction of flow, but it appears to be better than the stock piping.

Are those all the pipes that come with the kit. I ask this becuase maybe its just me but that does not look like enough tubing to connect all the way to the stock intercooler and to the turbo. Maybe its just me tho. How about some pics from people that have this kit.

I bought that kit awhile ago, and the only trouble I had was getting the couplers to fit. Seems as when they sent me it, they sent me the wrong couplers, had to make my own out of the old intercooler piping. Other than that, really liked it.

I bought those pipes a while back when one of mine split. They do get rather hot after driving for a while but it doesn't bother me. It was kind of a tight squeeze getting the elbow and upper pipe in but my friend and i finally did. We had to bend down one of the brackets for the fuse box as shown in the second picture but nothing too extreme. I guess i got an older set because my elbow looks like and even worse bend but for the price I couldn't complain too much. That and i guess my pipes were leaky even before the split because my boost went up 5 lbs. I also had to make one coupler for the upper pipe to the intercooler out of an old piece of stock pipe because it kept blowing off under boost but I can deal with a little modification. Its up to you; theres pros and cons either way you go.

I have these pipes istalled in my 2g gst and s0 far they've worked fine for the price. The only problem is that under high boost the couplers pop off. I would recommend larger couplers. Besides that, they work great. Also I have a greddy type rs bov and its a perfect fits. No crazy mods were needed to be done. I would recommend these pipes (for the price).
