Any one have any opinions on pacesetter?

I have a pacesetter header on my talon and I dont notice any difference between it and the stock manifold, my opinion is to just upgrade from the header back, (flex pipe, cat, muffler), I have an N1 muffler off of ebay with the silencer welded in and a test pipe where the cat should be, it sounds great and improved gas mileage a little. maybe 2 or 3 pts but not worth the money for it, theres a lot of other bolt ons that would net you more HP for the same amount of money. BTW mine cracked yesterday, so im on the hunt for a stock one.

Did it increase any horsepower?

Most people hate Pacesetter headers and will only talk bad about them, but I've been using them for a good amount of time and like them pretty good. :thumb:

I'm also shopping for an exhaust system and i haven't read much that said they were good... a few people said they didn't have any problems with pacesetter but much more said they were junk. Again i never used the system so i couldn't really say, but from what i heard, they are not that good.

i had a equal length pacesetter, and after about 2 weeks time, it developed 4 or 5 cracks in it, plus they tell you that they are high temp painted. well after the car starting up, soon as it warmed up it looked like my car was on fire from all the paint burning off and once it did the header looked like crap.
my.02 says they are a waste of money

I've had pacesetter products on 2 of my dsm's and I don't think they are that bad. They discolor very fast and look bad after a short period of time but as far as functionality I would say they're decent. I had to get one repaired because the tack weld that held the "pacesetter" tag to the header came off and left a small hole but other than that haven't had a problem.

I tried an eBay exhaust as well and even though they claim they are stainless steel, they rust very easily. I wouldn't go that route again, poor fitment, deteriorated too fast, doesn't sound that good, oversized ridiculous muffler included, restrictive resonators etc. A shop can custom make a 3" exhaust for you for less than what you would pay and it would last longer and be more efficient.

eBay is good for a lot of things but aftermarket car products are generally hit or miss. Having experience with them I would say try to go a different route if you can, but plenty of people are satisfied with things they got from eBay. I was thrilled to put my brand new shiny exhaust on when it came but after a month in Ohio weather it already showed signs of wear. After a year it looked like it was the original piping that had been on there for 13 years. It bums me out but for a car that I drive all year round it gets the job done.
