does GOFER mean the parking lot on the left side or the right at Mission. Cause i know the one on the right goes straight to the beach, and is always packed. I haven't been to the on the left hand side. I like the idea of the frys meet up and the time. I just dont have a good feeling that everybody who says they're going is gonna be there that early. There should be a set time for leaving... or is this where everybody is gonna talk for a while. I really hate driving at mission beach cause the traffic and the cops. Now trying to keep more than 5 dsm's together while staying low key is gonna be hard. If i make it out there I'll hang out for a while and maybe a cruise, but gonna skip the beach. :nono:

well did you have another place in mind?

ok so i have an oil leak and it looks like an easy fix but im having trouble.
so i know where it's coming from but dont know what its called. its the line right under the turbo that goes into the oil pan(i think thats what its called).it has 2 screws and one of them is tight but the one on the left isnt tight. well i tried to tighten it but as much as i keep tighten it it doesnt seem to even get any tighter and then i can still twist it with my hand its driving me nuts:banghead:.do you guys have any suggestions?

That would be your turbo oil return line sir. Did you reuse the same line? Did you get new gaskets? I would also recommend using a sealant. It's actually a very common spot for leaks to occur. Since you were doing the install/upgrade, you should've went with SS feed/return lines, unless you did and I simply wasn't paying attention =X LOL.

Also, the Eastlake meet was fairly nice tonight. I met up with another 1G VR-4. Two MKIV Supras also showed up [one non-turbo I believe]. I only spotted one 2GB white Eclipse.

Did you use new crush washers on the return line? Those are a must, I also agree on using some sealant on the gasket. Oh and it seems like you might have stripped the oil pan if it doesn't tighten up.

Hey I was there, didnt see you alan, I showed up around 9:40pm...

hey is there anyone in the oceanside are that could swing by and help a fellow dsmer haha. my car absolutely refuses to start. The coil tested good and I swapped transistors. after i swapped the transistor it threw a CEL. but i dont have a way to check the code until the old lady gets back. Id like to be there on sunday but doubt im gonna have it running by then

u2_slow - It might have been you actually that I spotted last night. It's hard to distinguish between silver and white at night heh. I was the black VR-4 parked next to the red one. We were next to the damn Nissan 240's.

vinnyy - I have an obd-2 scanner as well as an obd-1 scanner [MMCD datalogger that works on both 1st gen 3/S and DSM]. Unfortunately, you live quite a ways from me hahaha =/. I also HIGHLY RECOMMEND a Chiltons or Haynes repair manual. With it, you can use a multimeter to test your various components. For the meantime, I would just search for what values to measure for through the forum.

got a P0335....CPS cicuit malfuntion A.... im gonna try to get it running by sunday...is that a hard part to replace for a relatively new DIY'er???

CPS = Camshaft Position Sensor IIRC. I confuse it with the [Crank] Angle Sensor. Anyway, that one's a MAJOR B*TCH to replace.

"It's as if King Kong tightened the bolt on the cam gear" -anonymous person online.

IF it's the cam sensor, it is behind the rear cam gear. IF it's the crank sensor, it's behind that. Both/Either one requires a lot of prerequisites... mainly the removal of crap i.e. belts....

its crankshaft positioning sensor. I guess ill miss out on sunday because i cant get it in the shop till monday...ahhhhhhhhh...ill catch the next one haha. Thanks bro

Aw man, that sucks! You're welcome though. The shop is going to grill you with labor I bet. It takes a few hours to do if you have the tools and are confident. The "most difficult" part IMO is removing the tensioners and belts. That, and not screwing up your timing marks haha. Well... when I did it, I replaced both CPS and CAS.

Anyway, good luck and let us know how it goes!

actually i already had them replace everything before i did the 6 bolt swap...i called him he said hed do it for free because he messed it up. Im still pissed im not gonna make it sunday though haha

Ooh well that's good to hear somewhat. Before I forget! There IS a test for your sensor at the harness/plug connection. I believe you will need an ohm or volt-meter for it though. I can't remember which one. Run a search. Maybe it's just a stored code that needs to be cleared, and the problem lies elsewhere.

//edit// I just reread that the code was thrown after swapping power transistor units. That's pretty odd that it would make itself apparent afterwards.

I tried to clear the code. It just keeps throwing the CEL with the same code.

Ok, I'm probably shooting myself in the foot once I post this (pregnant wife alway goes :nono:) LOL. Anyway, is there a race or drift event at Qualcomm this weekend? I drove past last saturday afternoon and they were going full swing talk about wanting to :banghead:. Also your scheduled meeting on Sunday, where are you guys gonna be stationary for awhile as if I do somehow get the wife to go along I would have my kids with me as well. Did I hear maybe a breakfast? hmmm might be a good cover up until I say I wanna take my car......with interior torn apart somewhat :hellyeah: Let me know as I would love to start meeting some peeps again.

Let's kick at at a happy hour place and get drunk :D, LOL jk I heard they are meeting at frys electronics.
