Any additions to your CF Hood?

Do any of you guys utilizing a CF hood use the 3M product to save your hood (the clear "vinyl")? Or perhaps even use the under-the-hood heatshield? Or do you plain and simple run the CF hood as it came out of the UPS/Fedex truck? Thanks all..

and those using a VIS Hood, are there any precautionary notes I should be aware of when it comes down to maintaining it? Washing? Thanks again..

The only mod I've put on my CF hood is a set of hood pins.

After A) Having my OEM hood flying up and destroying my windshield and roof B) Hearing all of the horror stories that people have had regarding splitting under high speeds etc. C) Paranoia caused by both A and B it just seems like a bright idea to me now.....

My hood did the same thing at 100 mph on the drag strip due to the brackets on a set of locking hood pins giving way. Did you have the roof fixed yet?

i dont have a heatshield on mine, all i did was put sparco chrome hoodpins

I used a heatshield material from thermatec ... but my hood was actually getting heat stress cracks from an exhaust and downpipe gasket leak ... Since fixing the gaskets Im running without it now and its doing just fine. My turbo sits a bit higher than the 4gs so this shouldnt be a huge issue with a 4g. Havent had a chance to get hoodpins yet ... how did you guys manage to drill into the hood without harm?

Ive just made sure that I had a thick layer of wax at all times ... dont need unwanted bug splats staining or bird crap either ... other than that you should be cool ...

i drilled mine with the hood on the car, from the bottom. i drilled multiple holes with a small bit in a formation around where the pin would go through and used a dremel to connect them all and make 1 hole. just be very careful its not too hard. oh yeah and drill from the bottom

Thanks man. Not to hijack this thread but I believe this may help him as well ... also where did you mount the pins inside the engine bay? Around the headlight brackets somewhere? Thanks!
