Got it all done and fired up. Ill post pics soon. One problem though.....car is smoking alot!!!!!! :barf: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! White smoke. you guys think its the piston rings? :toobad:

Check your turbo you may have a oil leak inside of the turbo that also cause white smoke to puff out. Lets just hope it is that instead of something internal! Congrats on going turbo! If yours is like mine it will drink some gas if you gun it alot. Before I went turbo I usually got 325 miles to a tank, now I will be lucky if I reach 250 on this tank. HAve fun and be safe. :thumb:

Yeah ill check both but right now im leaning more towards a head gasket since white smoke is water/coolant........how long do you guys think ill take to replace the head gasket and how much are the head gaskets for these cars.

You guys think the headgasket blew up just by me putting a turbo kit and just normal driving it (didnt want to boost till i finished the 87 octane i had in the tank)...........??????

I looked at the smoke coming out of the exhaust and its blueish white.....think thats the burning of oil. i looked at the turbo and where the turbo and wastegate mate seems to have lil bit of oil. i looked at the i/c piping and theres no oil anywhere. what do u guys think

yeah ur buring oil..if it just started happening when u installed the turbo kit and haven't boosted any..then i lean more toward the turbo..double check ur oil line going to the turbo and ur oil return line and make sure they are hooked up right and free of any kinks...also u might double check ur pcv system..

this sounds alot like the same issue i had with mine, white smoke after install, turned out to be i had my FMU hooked up backwards causing me to run lean, fixed that and still had white smoke.....it turned out to be the packing oil from both the new turbo and the new exhaust burning off....after a half hour drive the smoke went away....

might be something to consider AFTER you check all your connections and additions.....not a good idea to run it and just hope. I checked everything like 3 times before i shrugged my shoulders and ran it

Fmu is connected right and the car has now been driven a couple of miles and it smokes alot specially at idle.

I'm helping black4banger work on his car

The return line is a little kinked. Would that be enough to hold back the oil from draining and cause oil to seep into the turbo seals? Just a wild guess.

not kinked at all i thought it was but it isnt. i can actually see some oil coming out of the turbo. are the turbo seals busted?

Real little amount of drops coming where the arrow is....

When my piston ringland went i was pushing a lot of oil from the valve cover breather...

If you are getting oil leaks where that arrow is then it is most likely leaking on the inside as well which would give you white/blue smoke no doubt, its hard to test that area though, as every thing in there burns off and it is probably most noticeable at idle because the is less exhaust gas to mix with the burning oil, i say check your turbo shaft seal on that side see if it is leaking.

I checked the Valve cover breather and no oil running through there.

Will do thanks man. by taking the bolts off so i can see if the seal is leaking is there any chance of messing anything else?

make sure you slide it straight off so you don't nick a blade and just have a look if you see oil around the bottom blades its a good sign of an oil leak, if you need a picture on where to look send me an email [email protected]

When I finished mine it smoked. i didn't have an exhaust on it, so it was hard to tell if it was comming out the pipe. What was happening was my oil send out the back of the block was leaking onto my downpipe.

I should start reading the entire post before I reply.

^^^what he said :thumb:

the return like has 2 90 degree elbows. one for the turbo and one for the oil pan. do you guys think that it will affect the the oil flow and start leaking through the seals of the turbo?

Rebuild the turbo or just get a new one and the smoke will stop. If it was you pistons or valves or what not, you would of had the same thing before. Rings just dont dissapear. I am willing to bet a used Zebra cake in "mint condition", any takers???
