Okay well I decided on these rims, but I can't decide if I want the 7 spoke or the 5 spoke. Also I think i really like the silver version more but my car is black and I think the graphite would flow better. What do you guys think will look good. I really like these styles of the rims.

silver or graphite, they will both look good.

Ifyou are dealing with an actual tire shop, they may be able to roll one out next to the car so you can see how it looks

I like the 5 spoke myself but I also like the 7 spoke.

7 wil probably be heavier but will probably be more resistant to pothole damage.

The 7 to me looks a little "busy" with the color edging on it.

If I was going 7 I would definately go silver.

I guess my vote would be 5 spoke silver, but you get what you like and what you think looks good. everyone in every region has different tastes. It's your car, you make it what you like!

I dont care what anybody says, but that graphite 5 spoke is sick. I like that one a lot :thumb:

Like mentioned above, the 7 spoke does look a bit too much.

Good luck with your choice.

P.S. How much are they asking for those rims anyway?

I got a quote of $500 plus $100 for shipping for just the wheels, no tires. Probably can be found for less though, I dunno. Once I decide on the rim I'll start searching for the best price. Rigth now I'm kinda leaning towards the silver 5 spoke. I like them all though :thumb:

the graphite 5 spoke would look great on your red car.
on a black or white car it would look a little "tri-colored" and draw attention to the wheels and not the overall look of the car in my opinion.
silver on silver looks tight on any car

Now that I look at the wheels and picture it on a black car, it would kinda look tri-colored.
I agree on silver on silver though. Now that always look great!

The other day I saw a 2000 Silver Accord with white rims. And the dude painted his side bottom moldings blue. :p It sure did not look good.

So you guys are saying not the graphite? Go with the silver? That's what I'm thinking anyway, I'm just worried about how it's gonna look.

did you pull up next to him, point at his moldings and ask if he had lots of insurance?
`cause Papa Smurf is about to sue his butt for running over the entire smurf clan?
thats what I would have done.

I'm always asking people if their wheel wells were not breathing good enough and thats why they added z3 vents :p

Any advice on what kind of tires to get? I do alot of driving, only been the track once. Mainly daily driving, alot of highway. I want something comfertable, loudness doesn't really matter since it's a convertable.

To me loudness would seem to be more od an issue as you can't close a window to get rid of the noise.

Right now on the front of my talon I have toyo proxes fZ4. (not my first choice but a decent one)

It's got a softer sidewall than my old nitto450 's but running 70 - 80 mph on a 1200 mile drive they were great. in comparison my 20k 450s sounded like 4x4 tires. TO me it is worth loosing a little handling (they feel a little squirmy in comparison to a 2 ply sidewall) for a more comfortable quieter highway/ high speed drive.
Our speed limits are in the 45- 60 mph range around town and I run 70 min on the highway. WIth a one year old and a wife noise is more of an issue as I can't just crank the stereo any more.

If you are looking for a more all out performance oriented tire consensus seems to be that falken has some good tires, including the azenis sport, but treadwear and noise still seems to be an issue with the really high performance tires.

Well I said that noise isn't as big of a factor because I hardly drive with the top up, it's always down so I get road noise anyway, I doubt I'd hear the tires.

Here's a pic of a 350Z w/ the graphite wheels.

you get some wind noise in a convertible, but trust me tire noise is most of what you hear. that and exhaust.
(former 74 mgb roadster owner)

I can tell you that I usually keep my windows up now because of the 450' s tire noise, not wind noise. I would get drained even on a 45 minute to one hour drive in my MGB because I ran high performance tires on it and they were so noisy.

Tire noise also resonates thru the cabin, windows up or down. In a spyder though you can't use sound deadening to get rid of it.
IF you don't make long distance drives (30 minutes or more) the you probably wont mind a really noisy tire, but if you do, save yourself some aggravation, as well as the hypnotic effects of the constant drone and get a quieter tire.

Again though this is just what I would do if I owned a spyder.

that looks good on that 350Z. Man did they mess up that car with the damn cartoon vinyl/paint.

Why dont u just post pics of your car and have one of the dsmer's here photoshopped the wheels on your car. That way, you can see what it'll look like ;)

a lot of the dsmers here are pros at ps.

But you would have to start a thread at the photoshop forum instead of here.

I dont want to hear crap from the mods about how this is not a ps forum etc etc.

So just make a thread on the ps forum.

did u ever decide on a rim? and where did u get that 500$ quote from?

No, I haven't decided on rims, and now instead of getting some I'm thinking about getting Lasik eye surgery done. It's alot more expensive but I'd get a much better payoff. Plus being a fireman if something from my SCBA (the air tank) got into my mask and into my contacts or they started bothering me while I'm in a fire I'm SOL because I can't just pull off the mask and fix whatever's wrong. That's my life at stake...LOL
