No, they NEVER do anything to the car, unless the engine's damn near dead. That show's so ###. Anybody see that new Scion they 'pimped out'??? Not to mention the ugly big front bumper they put on that...stupid show.

This is why I dint like these shows. Everyone involved is looking for there 15 minutes and nothing more. West Coast Customs is a joke all they do is put the biggest wheels they can fit on a vehicle and toss in a few TV's for good measure. There are a billion and one "custom" shops that can do that but they have X to help them out and make it a big deal.

I believe that they just add to the problems facing the car community and dont do anything to help it out. They make it look like body kits, wheels, and TV's are mods and that you dont need to know anything to get a nice car. People should watch show with Chip Foose, Troy Trepainer (sp), Boyd Coddington, and the like to see how a real custom car is built. These shows show the real time and work involved in making something, not just tossing a TV in a head rest and butchering the English language with "that is off the chain fo' real. No one gots that" Yeah I want them representing the car culture.

That is the end of my rant. I have many more especially the Von Dutch crap but Ill may just start another thread.

^^^ I agree totally. Overhauled and American Hotrod are great for showing you how things are done right. I watched on "Pimp my Ride" when they redid the CRX, and they painted the car with a new body kit on it, but didnt bother to paint the door jams, or anywhere under the hood. Then they put a new engine in it and the bay looked like pure sh!t. Sad, just sad.

I wonder how many of these cars have been broken into after the show. 10 million people just saw you get $15,000 worth of tvs, gamesystems, and audio in the car you park out in the street. Then they throw on bright ass paint, 19 inch tacky chrome rims, and a bodykit. Everyone for miles will know your crappy daily driver is now "that phat ride from pimp my ride w/ shitty locks and 10 grand worth of audio/video.".

If they really wanted to help people they would rebuilt the engine, redo the body/interior, and give it a nice color that doesn't look tacky as hell on a nonshow car. You could even do a nice clean bodykit to spice it up but jesus that show is a lesson on how not to do up a car. A few of the interiors were okay but thats about it. If I was on the show I would sell that car so fast. I would be embarrased to drive any of those cars I have seen on that show. just my .02.

Not to mention that the name of the show is "Pimp My Ride". Ever noticed those old school pimps with the loud paint and velvet dash boards? Thats what this show is all about. Making the vehicle look "pimp" aka "ghetto". Those guys arent trying to make it look like a nice clean new car they are in fact making it into a straight pimp mobile.

Complete with lots of bad taste that pimps are known for.

i love that show. alot of people have different tastes, which is what makes us all different. some people like the bling and dont care about speed. some like the rice and try to act like they got speed. some like speed over anythign else. this show is about the bling and nothing else. if you dont like it, you can watch "tooner transformation" if youre a little riceboy. or you can watch "horsepower TV". or you can watch "Trucks!". i watch them all, because i like all of it. i like show, go, trucks, horsepower, looks, body kits, turbos, nitrous, subs and amps, tv racks, wild paint, custom stuff. anything cars i like.

but thats me. my point? dont put down others cause you think theyre shits crap. they like it and thats all that counts. so what if youre faster, they might think speeding and racing is for immature babies. how many people do you hear about dying while showing off their pimped ride, compared to being a showoff on the street doing 100+ in some residential streets.

I also think that it is kinda shitty that they just had someone spend that much money on their ride, customize it to the pesonality of the owner, have the owner nutt themselves over it on the tv show and the a week later put the shit on ebay to earn a few bucks. ps: i like watching tuner transformation and i dont think they are for ricerboys at all. Did u c the srt-4 they did? It was badass. 371 hp to the wheels. and they may put bodykits on the cars but they still manage to keep it pretty clean looking imo.

If my car was on there, I'd sell it (Depending on what kind of car it is) in a heartbeat..most of the people on that show don't exactly live in good neighborhoods..if they keep those cars, I'd imagine there'd be many 'thugs' who recognize it, and they KNOW it has expensive stuff inside....next thing you know, the owner's walking outside to their PIMPED OUT RIDE, window busted & whole stereo system ganked...so I don't blame them. If they can get 20k bucks out of a 1k dollar car, good for them.

The show isn't about making the dopest rides out there for shows, it's about hooking up people who are unfortunately driving some seriously shitty cars around. Most of these people have cars that are within a inch of their shelf life or LOOK like they are, and the majority of the owners can't afford to fix the beaters or buy anything better. These people write in to the show hoping they're lucky enough to get a break while the viewers are entertained by the transformations. And it's paid by MTV sponsors, so who cares how much it costs?

And duh, of course the shit ends up on Ebay or otherwise sold. After the 15 min of fame, these people who couldn't afford nice cars in the first place are going to cash out. You guys said it yourself...would YOU want to publicly drive some of those gaudy rides? I'd cash out too!

Lastly, show me one of those cars that was better when it started than afterwards...some of you must think they'd be like "Hells no! Pimp my ride? I'd rather keep driving my POS beater!"

Well, I'm sure they at least do basic maintenance to them...change all the fluids, filters maybe, etc. In that one dude's CRX, I believe they totally rebuilt his engine.

Probably just don't show it because "nobody wants to see that"...they wanna see stupid body kits, paint jobs & chrome rims on every ride.

this may be a dumb thing to say.....but i would like all of there cars more and i dont think they would be as ricey.....if they didnt use those damn apc steering wheels or w/e they are , like the i wanna be in a mexican lowrider thing......nothing agaisnt mexicans, just the steering one reminds me of one of those cars that was in one the lesley nelson movies or w/e like cop33 or something i dunno i dont remember i just know i hate those steering wheels
