And all the time I'm thinking, "What's the first scariest experience of this guy's life?!"

Thanks for sharing your story. It's the first time I've seen it. I too was in a very, very similar situation about a month ago. A lot of hoops to jump through even when the accident is not your fault. Tomorrow I will try to settle my bodily injury claim. Shark infested waters when working with claim adjusters.

Guys and Gals, I want to use this as a reminder to NOT take what ins companies initially offer you on a total loss of your vehicle.
Over the last couple years, I have helped increase the offers on the following cars:

2G GS-T We got a $2500 increase over initial offer
CTS-V We got a $3000 increase over initial offer
2011 Built GT500 we got $36,781 over initial offer (Yes, you read that right; initial offer was $62,500, but I got involved and it took a month and a half, but we got them to $99,281)

Do NOT let the Ins companies screw you over.

There is a specific process in how to negotiate total losses and most people don't know how to do it, so PM me if you need help, but I HATE seeing people leave money on the table, especially when it's in regards to a car they have a lot of financial and emotional investment.

I could of used you a few months ago when my girlfriend got sideswiped in a blizzard, they initially offered her 1400 less then what she owed on the car, ended up settling for $17 over what she owed despite me telling her to continue to argue with them, but they refused to pay for rental insurance or any other reimbursement for her having to find rides to and from work.
