Ok iv been researching like crazy and I have two remaining questions before buying my Auto Meter Boost Gauge...

First of All, What is the difference between electric and mechanical AutoMeter boost gauges? They are both almost identical in price, and there doesnt seem to be any difference in function. Is the install different? Or do they perform differently?

Second, which is better, the Phantom or the Ultra-lite (is there any difference at all?)

Get mechanical, it will be take a more acurate reading. And as for your phantom/ultralite question, the only difference between those, and any other of autometeres series is what they look like. so it's really just personal preference.

The difference between mechanical and electrical is:

Mechanical is physically connected to what it's measuring, i.e. you tap into your boost system and run it into the cab

Electrical has a sending unit and you just run wires into the cab.

I use mechanical for my boost, and electrical for my oil pressure and transmission temperature, because I don't want oil and trans fluid running into the car, if it leaks, big mess :(
