Anyone else have these? Not sure if something got on the car at one time that got on the plastic or what. (Just got her a few months ago.) Tried to take pictures but it didn't work very well. Not sure if its dings in the clearcoat/plastic or what. They are white and tiny . And they laugh at clay bar. :banghead:

Any suggestions for at least making them a little less noticeable? You have to really look to see them but once you do....... yuck. :sosad:

Without pictures, it's tough to say what they may be.

As stated, without pics it is hard to give a remedy. But I would say try a scratch and swirl remover, and if that doesnt work try some light wet sanding.

Here's the best i could get (terrible)

Recommendations on brands of swirl/scratch remover on plastic?

They appear to be little tiny pits most likely caused be rocks over the years..

That's what I thought too at first. But they are on the front bumper (not rear), and on the spoiler.... but no where else on the rear. I can't decide if they are "pits" or something that actually got on the paint.

We've got the meguiars at work, swirlx, I think? Will give it a shot and report back. I'm a'skeerd of sandpaper. (Noob-errific when it comes to body work)

That's what I meant rocks hitting the front bumper..From somone riding too close to sumone on the road..

Rubbing compound might take a little but away..But you should be able to run your finger along the damage and feel that it's not smooth..That pretty much sums it up for rocks hitting the bumper, and hood..I used to see this all the time when I worked at the car wash..People would actually bi*** at me when they noticed the damage to the front end caused by rocks, when there car was actually clean..They thought it was our fault the damage was there..

I don't think I ever seen or noticed it on the spoiler tho..

If the swirlX does not work you may want to try using meguiars ultimate compound followed by ultimate polish.

If i could get a decent picture, it almost looks like something sprayed on it - white or light color. Same on the spoiler. But not a single spot of it on the hood, hatch, rear end, etc. Was hoping it was a problem someone else had. DEFINITELY not smooth to the touch, even after clay barring the snot out of it.

Thnx all. Y'all :hellyeah: .

Are the spots raised or does it feel like they are pits? Like said earlier, if it is pitted, most likely chips from rocks. If it feels raised, might be something like spray paint or overspray from someone painting near the car for whatever reason. You could try to wetsand the bumper with 1500 grit paper and then buff it with compound and finish up with a swirl remover/polisher. When clear coat starts to oxidize, it can bubble up a little until it just starts to flake. That could be a possibility too.

This sounds like a reallllly good description of what it probably is. Hazel had been somewhat neglected when I got her, but she had definitely been well cared for a very long time. A real diamond in the rough.

Then & now.

I would say tiny little paint chips caused from gravel on the road. I had some of these on my black Envoy and had to use some touch-up paint to fix it. I was pretty pissed when i saw it.

Looks like it had a run in with alot of pebbles. Either try what the others had said. If u want to go cheap just cover with touch up paint that can more then likely be found at your local autozone. :)

This is super ghetto but works wonders for me. Find a sharpie close to your color since the dots are little get fine tip and just fill them in. Super ghetto but it works.

I see some faded mirrors still. :nono:

LOL :p But seriously it looks much better than the first pic.

Not faded, have been replaced at some point with THE worlds worst rattle can job. In some kind of almost black gray, complete with drips. WTF. Already sanded down & painted the upper window trim. Duplicolor bumper, several VERY light coats, over a couple very light coats if adhesion promoter. turned out quite nice.

Nutherwords, already on the list. :D Which is growing daily. Don't tell, I think I've become addicted to dear hazel. :p

I think most of us that actually have nice DSM's are quite addicted to them. I know I am, and I have never even driven mine.

I had the same little specs that drove me crazy. My buddy does autobody and he buffed then right out. No idea what they were though LOL
