Hi Guys,

I'm trying to fix a leaking fuel issue and its coming from the Fuel rail fitting. In the picture below, is the wing piece suppose to be able to move or is it welded in place? I was not the one who installed it so I didn't know if it should or not. Thanks.

There should be two bolts going into the fuel rail retaining it.

Yes I know that but, when I take the fitting out of the fuel rail should that piece move freely? Right now with it out of the fuel rail I can spin it around if I want.

I think your asking should the mounting wings move/spin around the fitting.

Most of the ones I've seen are machined from one piece or welded so they wouldn't and would be broken if you could but there are other, cheaper ways to make them that might allow it to move and still work. However, I don't think I'd use any of them myself and would trash the fitting if it started doing that.

The o-ring provides the seal, the mounts job is to keep the pressure in the rail from spitting the fitting out. So as long as it keeps the fitting in the rail it shouldn't leak.

I assume that picture isn't the exactly type you have.

Yup exactly. That's what I figured, I guess I will have to go out and buy a new fitting. The previous owner installed the fitting so that's why I didn't know for sure. Thanks for clearing that up.

Is the o-ring damaged? If so replace it and you should be fine. If not, maybe grab the next size thicker and see if that solves your problem.

Yeah That was the first thing I looked at and it looked fine. Im pretty sure its leaking because of the wing mount. When the fitting is tightened into the fuel rail, I can wiggle the entire fuel line that is going into it which is causing a fuel leak.

Now that I took the fitting off completely you can see where the weld broke.

I bet you could clean that up, JB weld the mount back on and replace the o-ring (it looks hammered in that picture) and it would be fine until the next time the AN fitting was over torqued.

Ah, so that's what happens when its over torqued? Are you talking about the screws going into the fuel rail or the AN fitting going into the fuel line? The fuel line was screwed in super tight onto the AN fitting from the previous owner but the screws going into the fuel rail were only torqued at about 5lbs max. I was thinking about having it welded but the wing mount was all warped anyways.
