ok here's the deal. the car is a 1990 talon tsi awd. i have no 4th gear at all. there isn't any grinding, it's like there isn't even a gear there when i try to put it in. i can get it into 1,2,3,5,R fine, but the clutch engages right at the floor. i replaced the slave cylinder, clutch, t/o bearing, pressure plate and replaced trans fluid and transfer case fluid and bled the system for half an hour. i tried adjusting the clutch (its hanging on by about 3 threads) and that didn't help. i'm stumped, is it my transmission? someone told me that i could make a longer slave cylinder rod, but i heard that's a temp fix and it puts too much pressure on your pressure plate.....any ideas?????

dam youre screwed.
There's a helpful response!

I couldn't diagnose your 4th gear problem via email but you can check a couple things about your clutch engagement problems. They've all been handled before. Check out Taboo Speed Shops Installation and tech page http://www.taboospeedshop.com/installationtips.htm Scroll down to the clutch section and read all the different pages. It'll at least give you some tips to try.
