so hears the deal. i have a couple iphone 3g 16GB phones for sale.
a dude emailed me, and offered $700usd shipped if i will ship it to Nigeria!
he already sent the money to my paypal account. but his payment says pending.
im new to using paypal so i wanted to ask if it is possible for me to get screwed on this deal? does paypal offer me any insurance or anything or what should i do?
the post office told me that there are a lot of online scams coming from Nigeria specifically.

Never EVER deal with anyone in an overseas transaction. Especially Nigeria. There are SO many scams out there you wouldn't believe it.

It sounds like a scam to me, if anything wait for the money to be there before you send it. If that isn't possible, cancel the transaction. That's my $.02

i would just cancel the transaction. If you don't want to do that then wait for it to clear. It wont say pending anymore. You can also call paypals help line specific answers on what kinda coverage they have.

Talk to Paypal support about it. They should be able to tell you everything.

If the payment clears and shows "completed", you should be ok.
I'd just cancel the payment now. I don't even ship to Canada anymore because of the problems I've had.

I had one that said pending and I shipped the product (my old ECU). The guy's checking account bounced and the money was pulled back out of my account.

Paypal eventually got that mess cleaned up.

I use paypal atleast 5 times a week from ebay to half.com to other sources. If the money is still "pending" do not ship the item. When the money is "pending" its not yours just yet, and yes the buyer can get the money back. Now once is says "cleared" you are safe to ship the item. When it is "cleared" the money is yours and there is no way for the buyer to retrieve that money.

Scam, but you could say you want to get it mailed but you need $50 for shipping first because you are low on money. Sometimes they will bite and you can screw them back. ...But it's probably best to just ignore it.

You need to really work at it to keep-up with my Dad. If you don't, he WILL plan his arrival at a time that is guranteed to cost me money. If I were expecting my GF to give birth (knock-on-wood!) to my first-born child, my Dad WOULD schedule his arrival for that exact moment! It's one of several of his super-natural abilities.
To the OP; maybe I could have my dad look this guy up for you when he gets there in a couple of days
