the person i bought my 96 2g from apparently wired my alt striaght from the battery to the alternator. not even through the fuse box.
the wire burnt up due to poor locationing and im looking to fix it the right way and just need help begining. he had it ran through one sigle what appears to be 4 gauge wire. how can i correct this completely?

Just run a new 4 gauge wire with a 80+ amp fuse from a amplifier kit. The original wires were not very good so replacing them with the larger amp wire will help the charging system witch DSMs have issues with.

^^^ that sounds good. if you want to rewire it to the fuse box then get new wire and unbolt the box. gain access to the bottom of the box and wire them in on the far left fusible link which should be alternator.
