Hi guys need some help finding something.... making long story short my car throws me the 1500 code (General FR Terminal Circuit Malfunction) so i start troubleshooting and pretty quick i found out that both cables that go to the ecu if i'm not mistaken pin 33 and 41 the green and the white one are cut, and the plug itself is garbage the car still run tho just got some rpm fluctuations, and i'm looking for the plug, the alternator plug with all four wires so i can replace mine can anyone help me with that? can find it online nowhere:banghead: maybe you guys have some ideas please:pray:

P.S. I also need the cluster gauge bulb socket I'm missing a few ( don't ask me how----->previous owner) can't find them either any help is much appreciated.

Here ya go, this is one way to do it. Buy it via the website mentioned in the link below. This was exactly the way I did it, and it showed up at my door pretty quickly. Comes with the plug, orange 'keeper' cage, and the plug grommet. It does not come with the wires or wire insulators so be careful disassembling the bad plug so as not to damage the pins. PM me for any question on that, I love those puzzles. You can also hunt around the classifieds for a harness part-out.

Hmmm how come I miss that ^^^^ threat? after checking the pictures i was like WTF this alternator looks different than mine and indeed it is different! Now i don't know what alternator i have :ohdamn: and how to solve my problem if i take pictures can some one help identify my alternator?

Sure post it up! You may have a Saturn alternator. Is it like this? How are your wires cut by the way, are they just snipped in half with the wires sticking out the plug at least? You can solder and shrink wrap them. I have a good pictorial on how I did mine if you want

Ok I ordered this plug and the wires and pins from the old plugs are messed up. Is there a way to insert the wires into the plug so they plug into the alternator properly if the old ones are unusable?

You pretty much have to use the pins. Usually the pins aren't messed up unless they were mangled taking the connector apart. Even then, they can be bent back into shape.

How good are you at soldering? There is a way to fix the bad wires if you can save the pins

Yeah it's a wrap for the pins. I messed them up trying to pry them out. What I did was take some wire and strip off the ends leaving a Long strand of wire and folded the wire and inserted the wire into the spot where the pin would go so it would make contact w the pins in the alternator. I know it's a ghetto rig but I was desperate LOL

Remember I said I would take a picture of my alternator to someone help me find out why it was, well here it is!

Notice how in the second picture the plug is completely different form a 2g or Saturn and the white and green wires are not plugged at all that's why a have the 1500 code I wasn't able to find any serial number or ID on it but from the brand and some research on the net It seems I have a Hyundai alternator LOL.

Strange, besides the cut wires, does it look like an obvious fabrication project to make it fit? Or does it look like it bolts right in?

Yeah I don't recognize it either.

No! When I bought the car several months ago I thought it was an OEM alternator until I saw some pictures of some engine bays. It's a bolt on! As far as I know is that is 98% it's a Hyundai alternator and the amp rating for Hyundai is from 60A to 95A but I don't know for sure what I have! What do you suggest should I change this alternator or keep it until it dies. The car works fine the only problem I have is some minimal rpm fluctuation at idle I have no other code beside that one!

In my experience the charging systems in our cars is finicky enough as it is. A lot of bad things can come of an alternator that isn't properly controlled(fried ecu, fire, odd functioning BCM, etc.) I would spend a little money now and avoid spending a lot later. Plus it can be a real task tracking down electrical issues. When I bought my dd (01 stratus r/t coupe 3g dsm) I couldn't figure out why id would die for no reason while driving and found 6 wires burnt in half in the main body harness under the dash from a botched stereo install from the PO. Let me tell ya, NOT EASY to find or repair.

Yes I agree! And mostly with this part "A lot of bad things can come of an alternator that isn't properly controlled" and I wanted to change it since I first realize that I didn't have a "real one" but I must say the car has been working fine for almost a year with no mayor issues but you are right I rather buy a used 2g alt should be around $40 to $60 than spending $400 for a new ecu since a have link as well.

Have you figured out what's up with the "saturn swap" alternator? I assume its a saturn alternator, but what year, does it have to be a saturn, or will any fwd gm alt work? I've looked around and asked, but no answer.

I just looked harder and it seems its a 91-97 1.9 saturn alt. And it looks like most people are relocating it to the rear of the engine. It looks like they are putting out 130amps compared to the factory 80 or so if I'm reading right.

A few posts above I said that this is a Hyundai alternator. The brand of this alternator is MANDO and is mostly used by Hyundai also some Ford and Mitsubishi cars from the 1990 to 2003 the minimum amp rating for this are 60A and goes al the way up to 95A. BTW the OEM 2g alternator is 65A. Anyway a timing belt job is coming soon so probably I'm going to remove the alt and take a look at it and post some pictures I might change to the stock alternator anyway I don't like the idea of having Hyundai parts in my car.

I run a 90amp galant alternator. Bolts right up to a 2g and the connections are the same. It came from a 98 model. Just another OEM option and its a small upgrade.

Rockauto has 90amp alternators for $93. Love that site. Cant go wrong with that, and its brand new

Sorry for the confusion, I was trying to ask for some clarification on exactly what the "saturn swap" that people have mentioned was. I read some posts about it and was still a little unsure. I realize now, that it was probably the wrong place to post the question as its off the origional topic. Thanks for the oem 2g alternator amperage info btw. I can't believe its only 65a!!

Nah no problem! And yes the saturn alt is a direct bolt on for the 2G as mentioned above and a worthy upgrade!

There is a bit of grinding to do but not bad. I like the Saturn swap because they are cheaper and easier to come across. They seem more durable as well because I have a tubular o2 housing and the alternator is probably an inch away. It's not like this was a new one either, picked it up from the junkyard in all it's glory with shot bearings for $45. Been running the corroded POS for 6 months now.

Hi there eclipsyco!

Just for you to know.... Here in Costa Rica a lot of mechanics doesn't know how to fix our cars, and one thing I have seen in several DSMs is what you're experiencing right now...

They are not able to fix or find a good alternator, so they cut the wires for the ECU and they just put in another one, usually they use one from a Nissan Sentra or 200sx, Mitsubishi Mirage or Hyundai....

My suggestion would be, get a new one from an online store, I found one remanufactured at a pretty decent price and it outputs 110amps!
