okay. my car was dead. probably because i let it set a couple weeks in super cold weather without starting it. i put one of those "jumper boxes" on it, the things that jump start a car, and the car started fine. as soon as you unhook the jumper box, it would die. we left the jumperbox on there for a long time with the car running, still as soon as you pulled off the cables, it would die. so then we tried jumping it with another car. let it set for a long time, the voltometer on my turbotimer showed my car was getting 14.3 volts. then in the middle of the car running, jumper cables still hooked up, the horn came on for no reason at all. would not shut off. i had to unhook the horn. then i noticed i had no interior dash lights, or taillights. then i started smelling burning electrical!!!! we unhooked the jumper cables and the car stayed running for a minute, then died again. so then i thought to look in the fusebox under the hood. i noticed there was a 100a relay labled "alt" it was blown. that makes sense to me. if the alternator relay is blown, thats why when you unhook the jumper cables it dies, no alternator. my questions are.....

1. where the heck do i get another 100a alternator relay?

2. is the alternator relay somehow connected to the tailamp/dash lights?

3. why on earth would my horn have come on and stayed on???

please help. thanks.

I think you will find autozone or cae quest will have your relay and as far as the tail light im not sure replace the altenator relay and see what it does :talon:
