Alternator and door ajar light

My door ajar light has been flickering on and off for about a week, then it stayed on completely. The other day my dashboard lights started to dim and as soon as I pulled into my drive, it died. Im pretty sure my alternator is shot.

I bought a rebuilt and a new belt since it was squealing. The problem is the power steering pump is on top of the alternator. Do I need to remove it from the bottom, or move the power steering pump.

Also, what would cause my door ajar light to stay on. It also causes the key light and floor board lights to stay on all the time.

Replace the door switch. It's under the black rubber boot in the lower door sill. The switch and boot is <$10 at the dealer and one screw holds it in.

if you still want to swap alternators, you don't need to remove the power steering pump, however, you do need to disconnect the arm that brings fluid from the reservoir to the pump... DRAIN IT FIRST!!! and then the alternator will come out from the top... however, you will need to also remove the plastic shield from behind the driver tire in order to get the long ass bolt out of the back of the alternator... don't forget to put this plastic shield back on, it keeps the elements out of your alternator...

it's about a 2 hour fix if you have a manual to look at, and a good head on your shoulders...

note to self: i just did mine, and the tension bolt looked crappy... turned out it was, it broke the belt, and i lost the bolt and bracket... those are mitsubishi order only... so check those out carefully when you are installing...
