hey guys, looking for some advice. me and a friend last night sat around discussing a bunch of things, well an idea came up that we chased awhile. since we we're discussing it in relation to my car, thats thw way we went with it, an awd 92 talon. we'd scrap the x-fer case and driveshaft, and in it's place we'd have a res. tank, motor, and pump. the motor would run off the output shaft on tranny, and your pump would turn the rear end. so here is my question.... why wouldnt this work? we came up with all we could last night, why it wouldnt... but it was all really minor stuff. this may or may not end up being a hypothetical question. thanks for checkin it out.

A couple of things come to mind. RPM matching of the front wheels to the rear wheels?

Making an assembly to handle that kind of horse power. I would think if it were easily feasable, the oem guys would have done that.

Probably a few other things as others read this too.

Don't see how the stock VC would survive (regulates tork front to back) unless you welded the center diff and ran a VC Eliminator.

Out of curiosity, how much would the parts to make this work cost and what would be the weight? :dsm:

Actually I think it's been done already. I'll see if I can find the link, but I'd swear I remember seeing something a few years ago about someone building a twin engine, AWD DSM. It was definately a twin engine AWD something......

That's Vineet Sighn's (sp?) car.

I'm sorry but, You have to be pretty damn desperate for originality
to put two engines in a car. I dont like it :toobad:

hey guys, sorry to take so long to reply, had to run to philly this weekend. ok, lets get the why question out first.... because we are really bored hillbillys, and have nothing else to do. my friend and i will sit and get into discussions like that. he's got access to all the things to put it together, and we figured about $1000. as far as acually doing it... probly not to the talon....we were looking at some different ways to minimize mechanical loss in the tsi, and that came up....somehow. i KNOW it wouldnt be exactly rational to do it, as the gain wouldnt be worth the work, but it was an idea we wanted to run with in theory just to see what problems we'd encounter, if we could match it up to run the rear hydraulicly and front mechanical w/o failure...or awd hydraulic, what it would take to do it. ultimately we'll end up doing it to a blaster cbr900. thats a whole nother can of worms though. i just wanted to see what ya'll thought about it, what kind of comments would come up...thanks for the input guys...
