ok, last year around this time i had the same problem. i have a belt squeeling but not like a usual alternator belt would sound. if i tighten it up even more im afraid of my water pump going out again. im thinking since i have a double din radio and 1200w amp maybe it is because of the load its putting on the motor..where would i go to get a higher amp alt. ive looked online but cant find anything..and would i have to make a bracket for it to work?

I would imagine that any auto parts store would be able to get you one.
Though I also believe I read somewhere that the Galants alt will work on our cars and has more amperage. But I can hardly remember....:coy:

ill check that out, didnt even think about them. but usually its hit or miss with the auto zone alternators ya know?? i went through 2 last year. luckily i didnt throw away the receipt. haha

get new brushes mate! easiest fix in the world for a failing alternator, as for the squeeling, there is a fluid that you can spray on your belts (NOT THE TIMING BELT FOR CHRISTS SAKE) and it basically makes your belt more tacky, belt conditioner is what its called, sold at any schucks, kragen, etc etc, and thats if you have already tightened it, also check your tq settings on BOTH of your alt. mount bolts, because even if you have your lower adjuster bolt tight as you think it should be, the top could be loose and loosen the lower one right up, also check and see if your adjuster bolt has backed out or not, mine did because the nut and lock-washer were missing luckily it missed my belts by a hair

I heard after a belt starts squeeling it can get glazed over and that is what belt dressing is for, to clean it. over tighting will just cause it to brake. I would replace it, and clean everything real good and make sure there is nothing leaking on it. and after you replace it be prepared to tighten as it streches. Just what i heard.

yeah i heard about that adhesive kind of thing to make the belt more productive, also i heard that the p.o.s belts from advanced could be the reason too. think maybe if i get a mitsu belt would help??

Belt dressing is almost always a temporary thing. Any belt should run perfectly without it if it's the correct belt and the tension and alignment are correct.
Get a Gates belt - they are top notch. Often NAPA has them (or another auto store - just call).

OEM or gates all the way...Extreme psi has them if you can't find them.
