Alright i no i was talking about 250 horse. well thought about it and decided that not going to try for all that right now, plus kinda dont have the money right now. Well here is my questions. The 420a has about what 140hp stock? right? and i wanted to no what you guys think about this. If i buy a rebuilt head with little porting and new cams and i put cold air on it, header and downpipe, and catback, how much hp would i be looking now. i no not much but how much do you think. i really have no clue and cant find answer anywere to this. By the way cams are obx. link is below. and the link for the head is below to.

cams: OBX camshafts Eclipse 2.0L DOHC 420A N-T GS RS Cams - eBay (item 150515437459 end time Feb-02-11 08:22:36 PST)

head: DSM Graveyard - Your #1 Source for DSM Parts!

i would probably get stage one porting done. and the header and catback and cold air are just cheap ebay one's. thanks guys tell me what you think.

That's roughly $700 right there for just the head and cam. You must then add the cold air intake, header, downpipe, and catback. So My guess somewhere around $1000 w/o porting.... IMO think if you want get a turbo setup instead Or get a 4G63 unless you want to stay a 420a. But I wouldn't spend that much for what you want. no offence sometimes Ebay isn't the best option

Then leave it stock and save for a turbo.
You have a 420a turbo dont you. My car has 170,000 on it. If i get a rebuilt head and put it on stock block and put a small turbo on will that be fine or do you suggest anything else. I want to do this cheap but right. Like im not talking to cheap because of course dsm are not cheap cars to own. I want to run turbo but only about like 8 to 10 pounds. not anything to much. what do you suggest

Are those cams made of brass?
no its just how its coated. just looks like it.

Good heavens! You're at it again. Your last thread, which was very similar to this one, had the answer to your question.

With the mods you list above, you're looking at maybe opening up the engine a little for a net gain of probably 5HP and little to no torque increase. You are not going to get substantial gains without dropping a lot more time and money into your motor.

And what is this "stage one" Need for Speed lingo? Avoid that kind of terminology. Nothing's set in stone for it and it means nothing.

BTW: What exactly are your goals for this car? AutoX, RallyX, drag, daily driver? With a little more information, we can point you in the right direction so you will be the happy and satisfied with your ride ;)

Daily driver/drag and its dsm graveyard lingo ha

Well one econobox DSMer to another, here's my opinion.

The 420A was a Chrysler engine designed to be simple, fairly straight forward in terms of maintenance, and cheap to build. Raw power was never the goal here.
They put this thing in the budget oriented Neon and supposedly sporty Avenger/Sebring. It did what it was intended to and offered people an affordable and somewhat cheaper alternative to the Honda and Toyotas of the time.
With that said, to squeeze the power you're looking for from your motor and make it do something it wasn't really ever intended to, will require some sort of forced induction and a professional tune. If you're up to the challenge, by all means, forge ahead. You'll have my cheers encouraging you.

However, the easier route would be to patiently track down a factory turbocharged DSM that you can afford and maintain. Patience is key. Many of these cars have been through several owners and horrifically abused. Be cautious and picky when choosing your turbo DSM. With what your goals are, I think you'll be much more satisfied in the long run taking this route.
The car you have now will just never live up to what you want it to be. It may be fun to shoot down the straight a few times, but it will never be competitive without a lot of hard work.

Now as for a daily driver. With proper maintenance, it will more than likely shine in this roll and serve you well.

Not sure what your experience with mechanics is, but if you have the extra cash, go for the cheaper mods you've listed above and gain some extra knowledge. You might learn a little and you'll hopefully enjoy yourself.

If you replace your head and add boost ypu will likely blow your bottom end. If you are gonna do anything while you do ## head replace your piston rings and roll in@a new set of bearings. Then add boost.
