From the way I've heard some of the people talk here I relize tuning is very key to having great performance. I've heard people talking about all sorts of tuning tools like S-AFCII, pocketlogger and so forth. What tuning tools are the most recomended as they all probably do a good job. I just want to know what kind of tuning tools I should invest my money into to get a great running machine and where would I find them. Also is most of the tuning done right in the cab of the car with the tools or do they just tell you what to do? Sorry if this sounds dumb to ask but I just got my first DSM and the cars I've had before never needed things like this to run good.

1. Wide band o2
2. Timing light... Base timing cas adjustment
3. AEM EMS
4. DSM LINK
5. MAFT V2
6. SFAC
7. Pocket logger
8. Scan tool

5&6 interchangable.... but many keep number 5 even after they get 3 or 4....

To elaborate, the Pocketlogger isnt a tuning tool as per say

You have to have a piggyback system as well (standalone should log on its own)
I.E. SAFC2, Greddy emanage, MAFT (can only adjsut low mid and high trims though)

Its always a good idea to get an safc/maft and a pocketlogger as soon as possible so you can tune when you up the boost IMO.

Start with a pocketlogger. This is the best $125 I've spent on my DSM by far!
Even if you don't intend any major mods, the logger is an indispensible diagnostic tool to show how your car's engine systems are operating. Using tuning tools (SAFC, etc) without a logger to show you what's going on with your engine is just shooting in the dark.

You're jumping to far ahead. Right now you're a small fish in a big pond. Start out slow, Don't jump right to tuning tools. Get a datalogger like previous stated, Then start out with a boost gauge, Fuel pump, Exhaust, Mbc, Etc etc.
