i need some info here. ive had this problem for a while now like 1 yr or so and now im gonna attend to it. oil is seeping on the right side of my motor and im not sure what needs to be replaced? a while back i ws having trouble with my radiator and my car heated up several times all the way to the H. i want to say like 3 to 4 times. then i replaced the radiator and the water gate ( i think thats what its called. where the radiator cap is located). As soon as i fixed that my car started to have trouble turning on kept trying until it turned on but it started smoking like crazy. So i replaced the EGR valve and the PCV valve. the car started to run a little better now but i still have to press the gas to turn it on and leave it pressed for a while cause if i just turn it on and drive it starts to sputer untill i give it a little more gas as before i would just turn the ignition and bamm no sputtering. Soon after that i started to notice the oil around the motor (also the pcv valve is very oily along with the hose), its not leaking cause after 1 yr my driveway still dosent have any oil spots. so im guessing its not that sever. And i had just rebuild the motor like 3 yrs ago and it has around 140,000 miles on it. So if anybody knows about the sputtering or the oil please help. also i know im gonna have to open up the motor and since im there any recomendations on any performance parts for my 420 engine cause im thinking of maybe upgrading it to a turbo (if i can gather the money) i know i know 420 engine just sell the car and get a turbo car... i just want to get the most out of my car. it has alot of sentimental value and if turbo is not an option at least i know ill have good parts in my 420 (with the recomendation form you guys). thank you.

Man i had da same problem on my talon bro same oil spots i changed da valve cover gasket and dat didnt fix it and i was thinking could it be the head gasket didnt do it at the time when one of my friends wanted to buy my talon and ended up selling it had it for about 5 years and did the same right when i was about to sell it would still like to know what could have started that problem im sure somebody here on the forums know =)

had the same issue with oil coming out of the valve cover. I replaced the valve cover gasket and it fixed the problem.

thats what i was thinking of doing. does anybody on this forum know if overheating caused this to happen or did i just messed up some internals? the car runs fine right know only the sputering on startup but that goes away when i press on the gas for about 5 sec. and also recently on the highway as soon as i would get close to empty my car would start to sputter like if i had let loose of the gas and then it would pick up really bad. as soon as i filled up the gas tank it would run fine. as to this point it stoped doing that its close to empty and its running good. Dang so many things to fix. i wonder if that has anything to do with the sputtering at startup? anybody with any info would be greatly appreciated.

you should pressure wash it but make sure that water dosent go into the spark plugs.....then you will see after like an hour where the oil is coming from

nomatter how good you put it, it will leak trust me i repaced the vave cover 2 times thinking it was that i even replaced the bolts with new ones and also the bolt inserts, so if you really want a oil proof gasket the when you replace the gasket with a new one, USE SOME GOOD RTV AND A EQUAL AND STEADY AMOUNT OF RTV ON BOTH SIDES OF THE GASKET...! that should fix your problem TRUST ME

ok so how do i go about doing this on my own? what tools will i need? and since im a noob and never opened up an engine before do you recomend being done professional? i think i would rather have it done professional cause i want them to inspect the internal parts. but another side of me says that i dont need to replace the internal parts....its just the hole thing about my car heating up on me like 4 times makes me wonder if i damaged them.

well overheating a couple of times may do damage but its all on how and why it happened....!! well all you would need is 2 sockets a 10mm and a 8mm, the 10mm is for the 4 coil pack bolts and the 8mm is for the i think 9 8mm bolts for the valve cover.... its pretty much easy to be honest but if your unsure of your work then id rather take it to a shop...!
