So, I am driving to work today and my car will not boost, and i cannot go over 55mph. I mean it worked fine yesterday but today nothing. I have vacuum on my gauge it will go to zero then hold and the motor will start to choke. I will undo the intake pipe to check for shaft play or the wheel locked up or something is there anything else i could do to check the if the turbo is working? I am going to pull off the wastgate vaccuum line to see if it spools up.

One of your intercooler pipes may have popped off. That happened to me once. The car ran like crap and would not build boost at all. Mine would stop revving any higher after it tried to build boost so it made it tough to get up to speed.

damm, major brain fart, i forgot to see if one of the I/C pipes blew off thanks i will check it out. also will check for shaft play.

ok since i am at work in my shirt and tie, I went out on lunch and checked all the intercooler hoses are on and i let it idle for a couple of minutes, it idles perfect it just wont spool up to make boost, i will check the turbine wheel when i get home but is it ok to drive the car likes this, i do not want to mess anything else up?

I had a situation like this....did you check to make sure the clip that connectss your wastegate actuator is still connected to the wastegate? Mine just fell off one day and I had the same symptoms...

I agree with Rcon, it does sound like something to do with the waste gate. I would check the actuator to see if it' moves to see if it's stuck open. Could also be a big crack in the turbine housing.

I also agree, I currently have the same problem and am pretty sure it is the wastegate, however the arm on mine is still attached so I think it might be internal. I would first look at the wastegate arm and make sure it is hooked up, it might be the best worst thing that could have went wrong. :)

Driving Home from work, i get about ten minutes into my drive and all of a sudden i have boost again??? whats up with that?? the arm and clip for the wastegate are all connected?? was something stuck or what?? this ever happen to anyone else before?

I had an instance when my 1g did this. The triangular coilpack connector was faulty and one of the pins wasn't making proper contact. It ended up disrupting the timing and spark to cylinders 2 and 3. When it's idling, pop the hood and wiggle the coil pack and transistor plug to see if it affects anything.

*Edit* although, now i think about it, the car was barely driveable.. If your still going back and forth to work, its most likely something else. Might be worth checking though.
